Smart Journal Privacy Policy

Smart Journal (by Suprexity) is built around a simple principle: your journal is yours. This policy explains what data the app touches, what's optional, and how you stay in control of it.

1. Local-First Storage

By default, Smart Journal stores all your journal entries, books, chapters, photos, moods, tags, and settings locally on your device only, using on-device storage. We do not upload, transmit, or share this data to any server we operate — because we don't operate one. If you never enable Google Drive backup (see below), nothing you write ever leaves your device.

2. No Analytics or Tracking

We do not collect usage analytics, crash reports, or any behavioural data, and there are no advertising or analytics SDKs integrated into the app. Nothing about how you use Smart Journal is measured, profiled, or shared with anyone.

3. PIN & Biometric Security

If you enable PIN lock, your PIN is stored locally on your device, alongside your other local settings, and is never transmitted anywhere. Smart Journal has no way to see or recover a PIN you set — if it's lost, only your device's own local storage holds it, and it cannot be reset remotely.

If you enable biometric lock (fingerprint / face unlock) as well, that check is handled entirely by your device's own operating system (via Android's Biometric APIs / iOS's Face ID/Touch ID). Smart Journal only ever receives a pass/fail result from the OS — it never sees, receives, or stores your biometric data itself.

4. Photos & Attached Files

Images and other files you attach to journal entries are referenced from your device's local storage. If you never use Google Drive backup, they are never copied, uploaded, or shared to any external location. If you do enable backup, attached files included in a backup are uploaded to your own Google Drive, as described below — not to us.

5. Google Sign-In & Google Drive Backup (Optional)

Smart Journal offers an entirely optional Google Drive backup feature. It is never automatic — nothing is backed up or uploaded unless you explicitly turn this on.

If you choose to use it:

• Sign-in: You sign in with your own Google account using Google Sign-In. We receive basic profile information (your email address and account identifier) needed to authenticate you — we do not receive your Google password.

• What's uploaded: A backup file containing your journal data (entries, books, chapters, and any attached photos included in the backup) is uploaded to a location within your own Google Drive that only your Google account can access.

• Who can see it: We cannot see, access, or download your backups. They live entirely in your Google Drive, governed by your own Google Account and Google's Privacy Policy.

• Data in transit: All communication with Google Sign-In and Google Drive is encrypted (HTTPS).

• Turning it off / undoing it: You can sign out and/or delete any backup at any time from Settings → Google Drive Backup within the app. See Section 8 below for full deletion instructions.

6. In-App Purchases

Smart Journal offers optional premium features via in-app purchase, processed entirely through Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store your payment card details, billing address, or other payment information — that is handled by Google Play. We only receive confirmation of your purchase/subscription status, which is used to unlock premium features on your device.

7. Children's Privacy

Smart Journal does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. The app is not directed at children, and Google Sign-In / Drive backup requires a Google account, which is subject to Google's own age requirements.

8. Deleting Your Data

Smart Journal has no user accounts and no server of our own — we never hold a copy of your data at any point, so there is no separate "developer-side" request process. Instead, you delete your data directly, yourself, in one of the following ways:

To delete everything (if you've never used Google Drive backup): Uninstall the app. All of your journal entries, books, photos, and settings are stored only on your device and are permanently removed the moment you uninstall — there is nothing else to delete, because nothing was ever sent to us. You can also delete individual entries from within the app at any time without uninstalling.

To delete a Google Drive backup (if you've used that feature):

1. In the app: Go to Settings → Google Drive Backup, delete any backups listed, then tap Sign Out to disconnect your Google account.

2. From the web, without the app: Visit myaccount.google.com/permissions, find Smart Journal, and select "Remove Access" to revoke the app's connection to your Google account. You can delete the backup files themselves directly at drive.google.com.

Either method fully and immediately deletes that data — there is no waiting period, and no request needs to be submitted to us, because we're not the ones holding it.

What this doesn't cover: local data on your device, which is only ever removed the way described above (deleting entries in-app, or uninstalling) — we have no ability to delete that remotely, since we never had it.

9. Data Retention

Local data persists on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Backup data persists in your own Google Drive until you delete it — we have no independent retention period or schedule of our own, since we never hold a copy.

10. Changes to This Policy

Any future changes to this privacy policy will be reflected with an updated date at the top of this page. If we introduce a new feature that changes how data is handled, we'll update this policy before that feature is available to you.
