1. Introduction
   This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Expense Manager (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) handles your information when you use our Android application.
   By using the app, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Information We Process

Local Data Storage
The app is designed to operate primarily on your device. All financial and related data you enter—such as expenses, income, budgets, EMI/bills, split expenses, khata entries, notes, categories, and settings—are stored locally on your device.

Optional Google Drive Backup
If you enable backup:
• You sign in with your Google account
• The app uploads backup files to your personal Google Drive
• Data is stored in a folder created by the app
We do not store your financial data on our own servers.

Contacts Access (Optional — Khata)
We do not request or access your full contact list. When you tap “Choose from contacts,” the app uses the device’s system contact picker to let you select a single contact.
We only use the selected contact’s name and phone number to autofill Khata fields on your device. We do not store, upload, or share your contacts, and we do not access your address book in the background.

Notifications
If enabled, the app may send notifications such as:
• Backup reminders
• Bill or EMI alerts
All notifications are generated locally on your device. To deliver timely reminders, the app may use exact alarms (where permitted by Android) and may reschedule reminders after device reboot. We do not send push notifications from our own servers.

Biometric / App Lock
If you enable biometric lock:
• Authentication is handled by Android system APIs
• We do not access or store your fingerprint or face data
App lock preferences may be stored securely on your device using encrypted local storage.

File Sharing & Export
The app allows you to:
• Export data (PDF, CSV, and/or backup files)
• Share via Android share options
You have full control over what you share and with whom.

Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app displays advertisements (including banner and interstitial ads) through Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads.
To serve, measure, and improve ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process information such as:
• Device identifiers, including the Android Advertising ID (AAID)
• IP address and approximate location derived from IP
• Device, network, and app information
• Ad performance and interaction data (for example, impressions and clicks)
We do not sell your personal or financial data. We do not send your expense, income, budget, khata, or other financial entries to AdMob for ad targeting.
Ad-related processing is governed by Google’s policies. You can reset or limit your Advertising ID in your device settings (for example, Privacy → Ads, or Google → Ads). You may also review Google’s ad and privacy controls at: https://adssettings.google.com/

Internet & Network Access
The app requires internet access for features such as Google Sign-In, Google Drive backup/restore, displaying ads, and (if used) loading certain fonts or external resources.

Fonts & External Resources
The app may load fonts via services such as Google Fonts. These requests are handled according to Google’s privacy policies.

In-App Ratings
We may use Google Play’s In-App Review API to invite you to rate the app. That rating flow is handled by Google Play. We do not operate our own review servers and do not receive your review text through our own backend.

3. How We Use Information
   We use data only to:
   • Provide app features (expenses, budgets, khata, reports, exports, etc.)
   • Enable Google Drive backup and restore
   • Send local notifications (if allowed)
   • Secure optional app lock features
   • Show advertisements through Google AdMob
   • Improve app performance and stability
   We do not sell your personal or financial data.

4. Third-Party Services
   We may use the following services:
   • Google Sign-In — for account login (backup features)
   • Google Drive API — for backup storage
   • Google AdMob / Google Mobile Ads — for displaying ads
   • Google Play In-App Review — for optional app ratings
   • Google services (fonts / SDKs)

5. Data Retention & Deletion
   On Device: Data remains until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the app.
   Google Drive: Backups remain in your Google Drive until you delete them manually.
   Account Sign-Out: Stops future backups from the app.
   Advertising: Ad-related data processed by Google is retained according to Google’s policies.
   You can manage or delete most app data directly on your device or in your Google Drive.

6. Security
   We use reasonable security measures suitable for a local-storage app. However, no system is 100% secure.
   We recommend:
   • Use device lock (PIN / fingerprint / face unlock)
   • Do not share backup, PDF, or CSV files with unknown sources
   • Keep your Google account secure if you use Drive backup

7. Children’s Privacy
   This app is not intended for children under 13 years of age.
   We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us so we can help you remove it where applicable.

8. International Users
   If you use Google services (including Sign-In, Drive, AdMob, Play, or fonts), your data may be processed in different countries as per Google’s policies.

9. Your Rights
   Depending on your region (for example, GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or India DPDP), you may have rights to:
   • Access your data
   • Delete your data
   • Request corrections
   • Object to or restrict certain processing (where applicable)
   • Opt out of personalized ads via device/Google ad settings
   Since most app data is stored locally, you can manage it directly within the app, by clearing app data, uninstalling the app, or deleting backups in your Google Drive. For questions about rights or this policy, contact us using the email below.

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
    Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
