Smart Data Transfer (“the App,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) helps users transfer selected data from one Android device to another using Wi-Fi Direct or a local Wi-Fi network.
This Privacy Policy explains what information the App accesses, how that information is used, and how users can control their data.
Smart Data Transfer may access data selected by the user for transfer between Android devices. Depending on the features used, this may include:
Photos, videos, audio, and documents
Files and folders stored on the device
Contacts
Installed application information
Other user-selected content available for transfer
The App accesses this information only to provide the data-transfer functionality requested by the user.
Smart Data Transfer transfers data directly from one Android device to another. The selected transfer data is processed locally between the connected devices.
We do not intentionally upload transferred files, contacts, photos, videos, or other selected content to our servers.
The receiving device stores the transferred data only after the user initiates or accepts the transfer.
Smart Data Transfer may request the following Android permissions.
The App may use Internet and network-state permissions to:
Detect whether a network connection is available
Establish communication between nearby devices
Support transfers over a local Wi-Fi network
Manage the connection during an active transfer
The Internet permission does not mean that user-selected transfer content is automatically uploaded to an external server.
These permissions may be used to:
Check whether Wi-Fi is enabled
Discover compatible nearby devices
Establish a Wi-Fi Direct or local Wi-Fi connection
Manage the connection required for data transfer
The App will not change Wi-Fi settings except when necessary to establish or maintain a transfer connection.
Certain Android versions require location permission to discover nearby Wi-Fi networks or Wi-Fi Direct devices.
These permissions are used for nearby-device discovery and connection functionality. Smart Data Transfer does not use location permission to continuously track the user’s physical location.
This permission is used to:
Discover nearby compatible devices
Find Wi-Fi Direct connections
Connect devices for local data transfer
The App does not use nearby-device information for advertising or user profiling.
The camera may be used for device-pairing features, such as scanning a QR code, where this feature is available.
The App does not record photos or videos without the user’s action.
Contact permission may be used when the user chooses to transfer contacts from one device to another.
Contacts are accessed only for the transfer requested by the user. We do not use contacts for advertising, marketing, or contacting people in the user’s address book.
This permission may be used to display and access user-selected files, photos, videos, audio, documents, and other content stored on the device.
The App accesses this data only when needed to select or transfer content.
On supported Android versions, this permission may be used to save transferred files to the receiving device.
The App writes data only as part of a transfer initiated or accepted by the user.
Where permitted by Android, this permission may be used to locate, select, transfer, and save files across device storage.
This access is used only for the App’s core file-transfer functionality. Smart Data Transfer does not use broad storage access to collect unrelated personal information.
This permission may be used to identify applications installed on the device so that the App can:
Display transferable applications
Allow the user to select applications for transfer
Check whether a selected application is installed on the receiving device
The App does not use the installed-app list for advertising, profiling, or selling user information.
The user controls:
Which device to connect to
Which files or data to transfer
When a transfer begins
Whether an incoming transfer is accepted
Which permissions are granted to the App
Users can deny or revoke permissions through Android device settings. Some App features may not work correctly when a required permission is disabled.
Smart Data Transfer does not intentionally collect or permanently store the contents transferred between devices on developer-controlled servers.
Temporary technical information may be processed on the devices during an active transfer, such as:
Device connection status
Transfer progress
File name, type, or size
Connection identifiers
Error information required to complete or troubleshoot a transfer
Temporary transfer information is removed or overwritten when it is no longer needed for the transfer process, subject to normal device operation and system caching.
We do not sell, rent, or trade users’ personal data.
User-selected data is shared only with the receiving device chosen or accepted by the user.
We may disclose limited information where required by law, legal process, court order, or a valid request from a government authority.
We use reasonable technical measures to protect data while it is being transferred.
However, no wireless connection, device, or data-transfer method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should transfer data only to devices they recognize and trust.
Users are responsible for:
Confirming the identity of the receiving device
Keeping their device secure
Avoiding transfers over untrusted networks
Reviewing selected data before starting a transfer
Transferred content is not intentionally retained by us after a device-to-device transfer.
Data saved on the receiving device remains there until the user deletes it or manages it through the device’s settings or file-management tools.
We do not control how the recipient of transferred data uses, stores, or shares that data after the transfer is complete.
Smart Data Transfer is not intended to collect personal information from children.
Children should use the App only with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information through the App in a way not described in this Privacy Policy, contact us so that we can review the matter.
The App may rely on Android operating-system features, device manufacturers’ services, or third-party software libraries to provide connectivity, performance, crash reporting, advertising, or other functionality.
If third-party services are included in the App, they may process limited technical information according to their own privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy when App features, Android requirements, permissions, or legal obligations change.
The revised policy will be posted with an updated “Last Updated” date. Users should review this Privacy Policy periodically.
