SMACH - Semantic Multilingual Access to Cultural Heritage

About

SMACH is a three-year project funded by the National Operative Program (Programma Operativo Nazionale) to support research projects in several areas within the National Strategy for Intelligent Specialisation 2014-2020 (SNSI) to pursue the Smart Specialization Strategy (SSS), defined by the EU.

The project intends to contribute to novel semantic language technologies through ontology-aware methodologies and tools for creating, accessing, and maintaining domain specific linguistic resources according to Linguistic Linked Open Data (LLOD) principles.

The sustainability of these resources and methodologies relies on blending new and existing semantic technologies and integrating and developing linguistic representation models suitable for novel NLP techniques and applications.

Different basic and applied activities have been identified to reach a twofold goal: i) improving language studies towards semantic representations and translations of domain specific content, ii) developing use cases and pilots in collaboration with national and international stakeholders.

Yet, SMACH team contribute to several community working groups and COST Actions focused on enhancing LLOD-based resources and language technologies, multilingual linguistic resources, and digital humanities.
