Can I ask, how is youre energy meter connected (ethernet). To your router or to your inverter?

My energy meter is connected directly to my Sunnyboy inverter. So I cant reach it on the LAN

I have tried connecting it to the router. And though it does work, I had a hell getting the Sunny Portal to receive new data. So I connected it directly to the inverter again.

As Mentioned. I tried connecting the Energy meter directly to my switch. And it did work fine. Except, then my Inverter couldnt find the energy meter any longer, and therefore no data update on the Sunny Portal. All though the Inverter did find the energy meter.

Carlo Gavazzi is a market leader in Energy Monitoring technology with one of the broadest range of products in the industry. With over 25 years of experience, Carlo Gavazzi knows what it takes to manufacture meters that are designed to withstand the rigours of your toughest applications. With local sales and support centers located in 22 countries and independent distribution in over 100 countries, Carlo Gavazzi product and technical support is available around the world.

We do not limit our meters to just metering electrical consumption, we also offer optional digital inputs for interfacing to water and gas meters thereby allowing access to electrical, gas and water usage with just one device.

Energy management is not only the metering and billing for energy consumption, it is also tied in with the general principle of energy efficiency. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), 'Energy efficiency is a vital component to meet the challenges faced by the energy sector, which range from ever increasing global energy demand, to concerns about energy safety, climate change, local air pollution, and the affordability of the energy supply'. Therefore, the monitoring of energy consumption is an important first step, for the achievement of energy efficiency goals. Energy efficiency is the key for cost effective energy transitions and the single energy resource that all countries own in abundance. Strong energy efficiency policies are vital to achieving the key energy-policy goals.

Carlo Gavazzi's UWP is a powerful Edge controller that allows up to 100 meters to be monitored and it provides a user configurable web interface that can be accessed via your standard web browser. This allows you to monitor energy consumption, view trend graphs of logged electrical data (current, voltage, power, etc). In addition the UWP also provides a vast array of connection options to fog/cloud systems including :

In addition to these features, the UWP also includes a Modbus driver creation tool that allows you to communicate with virtually any device that uses Modbus - even if it is not a Carlo Gavazzi meter. This allows you to leverage your existing metering devices and still experience the power of the UWP controller.

In many applications it is not feasible to use a wired communication due to expense or the nature of the terrain. Carlo Gavazzi offers a powerful solution for long range, secure, licence free wireless communication based on LoRa. To accomplish this, you just need to plug a wireless module (UWPM) into the side of the UWP controller. This lets you access up to 50 remote meters at a distance of up to 10 Km in open air. There are no annual fees nor SIM cards required.

Up to 3 UWPM modules can be connected to a UWP controller giving a total of up to 150 meters that can be monitored wirelessly. If you have a combination of both wired and and wireless device, this is no problem as you can also access meters via RS485 and Ethernet as well.

Carlo Gavazzi has developed the UWPA wireless interface module that allows a Carlo Gavazzi meter to be connected to public and private LoRa networks. Simply connect the UWPA to our meter via RS485 and the energy data from the meter will be available through your LoRa-Wan network. This is ideal for Smart Cities or areas that are served by an existing LoRa-Wan network and they may already be using LoRa to read exisiting devices such as water meters.

Sub-metering, is an important application for either direct billing or cost allocation. This metering consists not only of electrical consumption, but also other metered utilities such as gas and water.

When used for billing in commercial applications, a submetering system determines energy use by individual user. This is common in apartment buildings where the owner can have one utility meter and then allocates the cost based on usage among tenants who each have an individual submeter installed. This also has uses for shopping centres, transportation terminals, marinas, campsites or other venues that have individual tenants leasing spaces or kiosks.

Data centers are directly or in-directly the back bones of any company - any downtime is costly and affect your ability to conduct business. In addition, these data centers are also large consumers of electrical energy.

Due to their critical nature (99.9% uptime) it is important to monitor not only the energy usage but also the power profile and power quality in order to anticipate problems before they result in shut-downs. According to the Ponemon Institute, the average cost per minute of unplanned data center downtime is $5,900 USD. Critical components include chillers, fans and servers.

EV charging stations is an extension of the sub metering application. Each charging station has an energy meter that is approved for revenue metering. The user of the charging station is billed for their actual electrical usage.

For all production machinery that manufacture or package product, Energy Consumption is part of the equation in the final cost of the product. A Carlo Gavazzi meter or transducer can be used in the machine to measure and provide the energy usage information to the controller.

Searched for documentation for "DC Energy Meter" and "DC meter type" settings but nothing is showing in Victron help or in any forum discussions. So can only guess maybe this is a pretty new feature and most users haven't used or is still in development to integrate better with VRM/GX.

As @Jwfrary, I would also love to see an extensive node-red integration, specifically "charged energy", "discharged energy" and "reset history" to be able to create a daily summary automatically. I apply this wish for the BMV-712 too.

@mvader (Victron Energy) , I just installed a SmartShunt to measure off-brand pv chargers. Working great to get the info into node-red when have it set as a battery monitor. I understand that integration is in the works, and I am curious about some details about your plans for choosing "DC energy meter" / "Solar charger":

This question comes up a lot, you are not alone. The main issue is whether you are intending to put your loads onto the AC "out" of the Multiplus, if you are then you can get away without the grid meter. However, you will most likely need expensive re-wiring since in your case the consumer unit (ie grid input), is some way from your multi in the garage? You will see from the diagrams that for this format the grid input needs to be the AC In feed.

The whole concept of the ESS system is that you can put the Multiplus anywhere (fed via a suitable MCB/cable from your consumer unit) but then you do need the information from the grid meter fed back to the Multiplus to make ESS work. Take a close look at the ESS system diagram, the Multiplus AC "In" junction is also the feed to the AC loads, AC In of the Multiplus is bi-directional. This makes it very easy to add to an existing house wiring system. I have an identical system to you (with less PV arrays). The only real issue is which method you use to connect the grid meter to the Multi, ie wired or wireless

If you have a long cable run to the garage then 5-core SWA might be a good choice for this, it would conveniently provide both go and return for the AC In and Out. Then you would not need a long cable to a grid meter which as noted in other threads can be troublesome.

A while back a shared a review of a Zigbee single-clamp energy meter that you can use to monitor a single phase's energy consumption. I mentioned I was waiting on the 3-Phase version, which can be used to meter the total energy consumption of your whole home.

Note: The content on this webpage applies in the territories of the large electric investor-owned utilities (IOU): Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), Southern California Edison Company (SCE), and San Diego Gas & Electric Company (SDG&E). Also, this webpage only covers retail transactions for energy (not "non-export" interconnection, energy sales at avoided cost, or wholesale market transactions).

NEM customer-generators pay the same non-bypassable charges for public services as other IOU customers, including Department of Water Resources bond, public purpose program, nuclear decommissioning, and competition transition charges. These charges fund important programs such as low-income and energy efficiency programs. NEM customer-generators are exempt from standby charges.

At the end of a customer's 12-month billing period, any balance of surplus electricity is trued up at a rate based on the recent market rate for energy resulting in "net surplus compensation" (NSC). The NSC rate is approximately $0.02 to $0.03 per kWh (for up-to-date NSC data, follow these links: PG&E, SCE, SDG&E). This rate structure was established in Commission Decision (D).11-06-016 pursuant to Assembly Bill (AB) 920 (Huffman, 2009).

Senate Bill (SB) 594 (Wolk, 2012) authorized NEM aggregation (NEMA). NEMA allows an eligible customer-generator to aggregate the electrical load from multiple meters, and NEM credits are shared among all property that is attached, adjacent, or contiguous to the generation facility. A customer-generator must be the sole owner, lessee, or renter of the properties in order to utilize NEMA.

To accommodate all needs on the market, we offer laser energy measurement systems made of a detector and an acquisition/readout device that are to be chosen separately. The easiest way to find the best solution for your laser energy measurement needs is to select a detector first and then decide which compatible acquisition/readout device you want. ff782bc1db
