STATEMENT ON THE ONGOING COVID-19 SITUATION AND CONFERENCE ORGANIZATION

The Institute of Foreign Languages (IFL) of Vytautas Magnus University and the Language Teachers’ Association of Lithuania (LKPA) have been closely monitoring the health and safety updates issued by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), as well the local health organizations for the city of Kaunas.

The Organizing Committee for the 2021 Sustainable Multilingualism Conference hold the health and wellbeing of its participants in the highest regard; our goal in hosting this conference is to provide an opportunity for researchers, teachers, and those passionate about the advancement of studies in multilingualism to come together, despite the challenges of the ongoing health crisis. As the situation continues to evolve, we are putting several conference plans in place to adapt to the conditions of June 2021. These include a version of the conference which will be a hybrid of online and face-to-face presentations and discussions, as well a version in which everything will take place online.

No matter what the situation will bring, you can be confident that the organizing committee will work tirelessly to ensure an experience that is perfectly attuned to the guidelines of the governing health bodies, as well as the needs of conference participants, all while providing an outlet for scientific exploration and growth.

You can find continued updates on the situation here, as well as the different possible modalities for the conference.

UPDATED. March 10, 2021. The Sustainable Multilingualism Conference will be held entirely online.

Sincerely,

Organizing Committee
