The aims of the review were to examine (1) who are the Latinx youth served by mentoring, (2) the characteristics of mentors, mentoring relationships, and mentoring programs serving Latinx youth, (3) the effect of participating in a mentoring program or the presence of natural mentoring on Latinx youth outcomes, (4) how components of mentoring (e.g., mentor characteristics, relationship characteristics, family involvement) influence youth outcomes in mentoring for Latinx youth

Our research questions were: (1) What are the critical junctures in education in which Mexican, immigrant students who are undocumented experience oppression? and (2) How do natural mentors and other adults support Mexican, undocumented immigrant students to overcome and resist oppression in their education?

We examined the role of mentors for Latinx students in a science mentoring program through two research questions: (a) How do mentors promote Latinx students’ social capital in their science education? and (b) How is social capital related to the science education outcomes of Latinx students? We focused on two forms of social capital in our research: bonding and bridging social capital.
