What we do?

The Student Technology Help Desk is a student run technology help desk ready to assist students and staff during the academic day with technology related issues. Need help resetting a password? Chromebook not working? Looking for information on how to use a digital tool? The Help Desk is your one-stop spot for all the answers!

The desk is staffed by students in the Student Technology Innovation and Integration Help Desk course. For additional information reach out to Librarian Carrie Mathias at carriemathias@slrsd.org.

The Student Technology Innovation and Integration Help Desk course is a hands-on study of technology integration in an educational context that may be taken as an Independent Study.

Students will be required to assess problem sets throughout the day and define the best approach to addressing or solving the problem. In addition to solving problems for students and teachers, students will be required to complete and maintain several running projects that address problems or solutions in educational technology integration. The course also provides students with the opportunity to pursue an independent learning pathway in one of four areas: innovation, design, entrepreneurship or applications and develop a project which positively impacts their community. Students will be able to collaborate with outside businesses and organizations as they develop and implement their projects.

To be successful in this course, students should have a prior understanding of Chromebooks and Chrome OS, along with being comfortable disassembling and reassembling electronics with supervision. A prerequisite of recommendation from a computer, math, science, technology teacher, librarian, department head, or coordinator is required.
