SLP Blogs to Check Out

There’s always something new to learn in the field of speech-language pathology. Many SLPs run blogs and have created websites dedicated to sharing their experiences in this field. SLP blogs are great tools for getting inspired, gaining confidence, sharing ideas, and broadening your scope of knowledge about the people SLPs serve.

Here is a brief list of some reputable SLP blogs. Most of the SLP blogs mentioned in this article, which all feature recent activity, are written by SLPs and have different resources on each site based on your interest.

1. Busy Bee Speech

Lauren, the SLP behind Busy Bee Speech, recommends products, app reviews, activities, and free printouts as well as Spanish bilingual resources for SLPs. Some areas touched upon on this blog are articulation, literacy, behavior, fluency, and language (and more).

2. All4MyChild

Meghan Graham MS, CCC-SLP, Jill Perry MHA, MS, OTR/L, and Karen Head MS, CCC-SLP designed several applications that can be found in this blog to enhance social development in children through play. These apps empower young children by helping them develop effective social, communication and self-regulation skills.

3. Speech Techie

Many SLPs use AAC devices and other technology to benefit their practice, and this blog is for SLPs who want to be informed on the latest technology in this field. The creator of the blog is Sean Sweeney CCC-SLP, and he is a private practitioner who has presented at Boston University and American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) on using technology.

4. Beautiful Speech Life

This blog was created by SLP Anna Page to empower SLPs, SLPAs, and Special Education Teachers to help children with complex communication needs. The site includes an SLP Toolkit, a sign language course, and the Communication Matrix, which is a free assessment tool to help families and professionals easily understand the communication status, progress, and unique needs of anyone functioning at the early stages of communication.

5. Speech Time Fun

Hallie Sherman, aka "Miss Speechie", is a New York-based Speech-Language Pathologist. In her blog, Hallie shares low-prep activities devoted to helping other SLPs succeed through engaging therapy options that keep students motivated. She even hosts a weekly podcast featuring a variety of guest speakers and topics pertinent topics to the world of SLP.

Student Resources

Some of the resources that can be the most authentic and helpful towards navigating this career as an undergraduate student are students themselves who have gone through this process before. Here are some of the students who have taken the OHNS minor at USC (this is a cumulative list and will grow as more people give permission to share their emails!). You are welcome to email and ask any questions about the minor, their career path, and any general questions about their student experience at this university.
