This Privacy Policy applies to all information collected through our mobile application, Slow Weather, and any related services, sales, marketing, or events.

1. What information do we collect?

Location data
To provide accurate, hyperlocal weather forecasts, severe weather alerts, and localized widgets, the application requests access to your device location data, including GPS coordinates.

• Foreground location: used while you actively use the app to load weather data for your current area.

• Background location: may be requested to update home screen widgets and send severe weather alerts even when the app is closed. You can manage permissions at any time in your device settings.

Local device storage
We use local storage on your device to save app preferences such as unit selection, saved cities, and widget settings. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to external servers.

Personal identification information
We do not require account creation, login, or personal identification details such as your name, email address, or phone number to use the Slow Weather app.

How to Delete Your Data: Since we do not store any user data on our servers, there is no server-side data to delete. You can delete your local application settings and cache at any time by clearing the app data in your device settings or by uninstalling the app. 

2. How do we use your information?

• To provide weather forecasts: location coordinates such as latitude and longitude are sent to third-party weather data providers so the app can retrieve accurate weather, climate, and environmental data for your area.

• To deliver localized alerts: your location helps us notify you about severe weather warnings and daily forecasts.

• To update home screen widgets: location access keeps widgets current and relevant.

3. Will your information be shared with anyone?

We only share information with third-party service providers that support core app functions.

• Weather data providers: anonymized latitude and longitude may be sent to providers such as Open-Meteo, NASA Power, and ECMWF (Copernicus) to fetch forecasts.

• Geocoding services: services such as Nominatim (OpenStreetMap) may be used to convert coordinates into a readable city name.

• News providers: Google News RSS feeds may be queried securely to fetch localized weather news.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or location data to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Do we collect information from minors?

We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 13 years of age. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 13, or that you are the parent or guardian of such a minor and consent to that dependent’s use of the Services.

5. How long do we keep your information?

We keep information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. Because the app does not require user accounts, location data is processed in real time to fetch weather information and is not permanently stored by us.

6. How do we keep your information safe?

We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures. However, no method of electronic transmission over the internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

7. What are your privacy rights?

Depending on your region, applicable data protection laws may provide rights such as access to your personal information, correction or deletion, restriction of processing, and data portability where applicable.

You can review, change, or terminate your location permissions at any time through your mobile device settings.

8. Do we make updates to this notice?

Yes. We may update this notice from time to time to stay compliant with relevant laws. The updated version will be identified by a revised date and will become effective as soon as it is published.
