Slow Pines is a Connecticut-based "ambient punk" band led by guitarist and songwriter Michael Meier. Started in 2023, the group released their debut EP, titled "Something You Could Never Have", in 2024. Their sound blends shoegaze, post-hardcore, and alternative rock to create dreamy yet infectious music.

Slow Pines formed as the solo project of singer and guitarist Michael Meier in 2023, while he was still in his senior year of high school. Using only an iPad and the skills he learned taking digital music production classes, he released two demo singles. "Lament For Clara Barton" and "Run Away," released in March and July respectively, set the template for Slow Pines' sound -- ethereal, fuzzed-out walls of guitar backed by a driving rhythm section and wistful vocals.
About a year later, Slow Pines resurfaced with their debut EP, "Something You Could Never Have." Featuring remixed versions of "Lament" and "Run Away," the EP continued in the sonic palette of the demos, but mixed in influences from pop-punk, dream pop, and post-rock. Fans of Slowdive, Hum and the Smashing Pumpkins will find something to enjoy here.
After its release, Slow Pines continued to gig regularly in their home state, securing opening slots for touring artists like All Under Heaven, Clementine, and Velvet. The group also expanded to a four-piece lineup, with drummer Jayden Bryant, guitarist Ana Sales, and bassist Rebecca McChesney, as well as Meier playing guitar and singing. The group has begun work on their debut album, slated for release in fall 2025.
