1. Introduction & Core Philosophy

Slow Software Studio ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your personal privacy. Slow Launcher is designed and built on a privacy-first, local-only architecture.

Unlike conventional launchers, Slow Launcher does not monetize your behavioral data, does not profile your habits, does not display third-party advertisements, and does not track your keystrokes. All app organization, hardware telemetry, notifications, and spatial canvas data remain strictly on your physical device.

2. Information Processed on Your Device

To operate as an Android Home Screen replacement, Slow Launcher accesses specific device capabilities through standard Android system APIs. This information is processed strictly within your device’s local memory (RAM) and sandboxed local storage:

A. Installed Applications

• What is accessed: The list of applications, package names, labels, and icons installed on your device.

• Why it is needed: Slow Launcher is a full Android Home Screen replacement. Querying installed applications is essential to display your apps in the All Apps library, search dock, and 2D spatial canvas.

• Storage & Transmission: App lists and icon bitmaps are cached strictly in your device’s private local directory. We never transmit, upload, or sell your installed app list to any external server or third party.

B. Notification Access 

• What is accessed: Notification metadata (app label, title, summary body, and badge count).

• Why it is needed: If enabled by you in Android Settings, notification listener access is used solely to display real-time notification alert cards and badge counts on your home screen.

• Storage & Transmission: Notification text is processed ephemerally in volatile device memory and discarded when dismissed. Notification content (including messages, contact names, emails, and authentication codes) is NEVER recorded, uploaded, or transmitted off your device.

C. Device App Usage Statistics

• What is accessed: Daily app launch counts and screen time duration.

• Why it is needed: To power the optional "Mindful Friction" and "Digital Wellness" features, helping you monitor screen time and set intentional pause delays.

• Storage & Transmission: Queried via Android’s local UsageStatsManager and stored strictly on your device. No usage analytics are sent to external servers.

D. Hardware Telemetry & Quick Toggles

• What is accessed: Battery percentage, charging state, Wi-Fi toggle status, Bluetooth toggle status, and flashlight status.

• Why it is needed: To render the real-time Neo-Brutalist telemetry strip and provide quick system shortcuts.

• Storage & Transmission: Read in real-time. Never logged, collected, or transmitted.

3. Camera & Hardware Sensors

• Slow Launcher does NOT capture photos, record audio, or capture video frames.

• When you tap the Camera shortcut, Slow Launcher opens your device’s pre-installed default camera app using a standard Android system Intent.

• Flashlight controls use Android’s official CameraManager.setTorchMode API, utilizing the FLASHLIGHT permission without accessing camera hardware.

4. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

• Slow Launcher offers optional subscriptions to unlock premium customization themes, 3D mascot skins, and widgets.

• All financial transactions are processed securely through Google Play Billing (Google LLC).

• Slow Software Studio never receives or stores your credit card details, bank information, or billing address. We only receive anonymized cryptographic purchase tokens from Google Play to verify your subscription status.

5. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing

• Zero Third-Party Trackers: We do not integrate third-party analytics SDKs (e.g., Facebook Analytics, Adjust, AppsFlyer) or ad networks.

• No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your data with third parties or data brokers under any circumstances.

6. Data Retention & User Deletion Rights

• Local Control: All user data (canvas notes, mind map clusters, favorites, and settings) is stored locally in your device's private sandbox.

• Complete Data Deletion: You can erase all data stored by Slow Launcher at any time by:

  1. Going to Android Settings ➔ Apps ➔ Slow Launcher.

  2. Selecting Storage & Cache ➔ Clear Storage / Clear Data.

  3. Uninstalling the app completely removes all sandboxed files from your device.

7. Children's Privacy

Slow Launcher does not direct its services to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this policy periodically to reflect operational or regulatory changes. Any updates will be posted to this page with a revised "Last Updated" date.
