Sloth bear Microbiology

The gut microbiota (GMB) of an animal plays a vital role to their health and nutrition. Sloth bears are myrmecophagous in nature which differentiate them from other bear species. The diversity and function of their gut microbiota are not well studied. One of our members, Ms Sakhi is conducting her research on the sloth bear microbiology, which is a pioneer study to investigate the gut microbial diversity in sloth bears. This research will provide some very imperative information that can help to understand the nutrition and health status of sloth bear population.
