San Luis Obispo YPAA History 1990 to 2009

SLOCYPAA was the original YPAA in SLO. They attended the 6pm Melody YPAA meeting downtown on Garden Street. They'd been inspired after attending an ACYPAA roundup to get a YPAA group happening in SLO. They had help and guidance from EBYPAA, and with that, they were up and running. SLOCYPAA would hold business meetings at members houses, sitting on floors in living rooms coming up with ideas for unity, service, and recovery. Their main events would be to host speaker meetings and dances at Cuesta College in the 1990's. As many SLOCYPAA members enjoyed long lasting sobriety, and their lives grew, the young people's group faded away. Not until the "City Lights" meeting (starting September 29th 2009) began did the young people's groups in SLO find their way back. It was the first 10pm Young People's meeting in SLO where YPAA's started to fellowship again and form a desire for a united young people's group which would soon become SLOPYPAA!
