Fair Use - How can I tell if it's Fair Use? Four questions to ask.
What is the character of the use? Personal or educational is the goal, not commercial.
What is the nature of the work to be used? Nonfiction is more likely to be okay.
How much of the work will you use? Needs to be a tiny fraction (list attached below).
If the use was not "fair", would the copyright owner lose or not earn money from sales ?
This question is the most confusing for users. The general thought is that if the user didn't make money, then it was okay. But that isn't idea. The user isn't allowed to make money from another person's creative work, and it also means that the creator shouldn't lose the opportunity of selling to you or to someone else their creative product.
How much is actually okay to use?
I really want to read more about it!
