Policies and Guarantees (Please Read)

By placing an order, you agree to the following policies and conditions.

Definitions:

A slime mould is an amoeboid organism that looks like a fungus but is NOT a fungus or mould.

A sclerotium (plural sclerotia) is a hardened, dormant form that a slime mould creates to survive harsh conditions like dryness or lack of food. It is much hardier in this state and therefore more suitable for shipping. 

How to activate a sclerotium

Place a piece of paper towel in a clean container (one you’ll use only for slime). Pour boiled drinking water over it, then drain off all excess water and let it cool. Place the sclerotium on the damp paper and add a few drops of distilled or RO water directly onto it. Never use tap water directly on slime. Close the lid and wait 12–24 hours for it to wake. For best results, keep room temperature between 60–85°F; colder temperatures can delay waking, and hotter temperatures can kill the slime or cause mould overgrowth. I recommend waking all sclerotia within a year and a half (check the BB date on the bag) and storing them in the fridge in the original Mylar bag I send them in, although they normally last up to two years this way.

(You can buy a one gallon jug of distilled water at any pharmacy, it lasts a long time.)

Live Arrival Guarantee (covers live slime cultures, animals, and anything wrong with orders in general)

You have 1 hour from the delivery time stamp on the tracking site to contact me via PM on facebook or email if there is anything wrong with your live slime cultures, animals, or order in general. Due to rampant AI use on photos, I will only accept video proof in which you show the situation while clearly explaining what is wrong. For example, if your slime cultures arrive dead, you can film a short video showing the dead cultures while saying, “hey, my cultures are dead. Please refund or send a replacment.” A short video like this is all I need. I will NOT accept plain photo proof. Once I verify the situation, I will send out a free replacement or refund for what is lost. After the 1-hour mark, the live arrival guarantee will be voided.

Viability Guarantee for Sclerotia (only covers sclerotia, aka dry slime)

I test every batch of sclerotia to ensure viability before shipping. In the extremely rare case that your sclerotia do not wake up, you have 4 days from the delivery date to notify me and submit video proof as described in Live Arrival Guarantee, via messages on Facebook or email. For example, if your order is delivered on January 1, you have until the end of January 5 to contact me. After that, Viability Guarantee will be voided. 

However, sclerotia sometimes fail to wake due to customer error, which I cannot take responsibility for. To determine where responsibility lies, I will contact other customers who received sclerotia from the same batch (all cut from the same mass of slime and therefore expected to behave the same way). Typically, one batch supplies 3–4 orders. The viability guarantee will only take effect if at least 2 out of 3, or 3 out of 4 customers from the same batch report that their sclerotia failed to wake. In that case, I will send replacement sclerotia for free to everyone in that batch.

Additional Summer Shipping Policies 

• All orders must ship with UPS 2 Day or UPS Overnight for Live Arrival / Viability Guarantees.

• All orders containing live bugs (eg: springtails & isopods) will only ship with UPS 2 Day or UPS Overnight with Live Arrival Guarantee.

• Slime-only orders can ship with USPS Ground/Priority with NO GUARANTEE of any kind by customer's choice.

Final note

I only guarantee live arrival of slime and animals, and viability of sclerotia under the terms described above. I do not guarantee culturing success, as that depends entirely on individual care, conditions, and experience.
