SLEsoN (Service-learning in European Schools and Organizations Network)
- initially called pan-European Service-Learning (SL) Network -
has been established in December 2022,
at the initiative of the Stiftung Lernen durch Engagement (Germany) &
CLAYSS (Latin American Center for Solidarity Service-Learning) .
Vision:
Our dream is to have a strong and vibrant umbrella network able to support learning opportunities for our partners, educational institutions of all levels as well as those working in non-formal education thus contributing to social transformation through solidarity, civic engagement, learners protagonism and thereby redesigning teaching and learning processes. The SL pedagogy is the main vehicle for ensuring this transformational change.
Mission:
We promote, accompany and develop SL practices in educational institutions as well as its practice in civil society organizations working with children, adolescents and youth throughout Europe;
We create a space to exchange experiences, strategies and ways in which member organizations improve educational quality and inclusion in their countries building a sense of democratic community;
We work collaboratively to exchange materials, learn from each other, enable joint projects and support SL at a European level;
We advocate for the inclusion of Service-Learning pedagogy into educational policies and strategies across Europe;
We are open to establishing bonds with other networks with similar objectives in order to strengthen our work's impact and give further visibility to the topic.
