1. Introduction
SleepMate ("we," "us," or "the App") is operated by Quanzhou Chimu Culture Media Co., Ltd. The App is a privacy-first, primarily on-device sleep and sleep-environment companion. It aggregates environment- and behavior-related signals on your device and uses a local rules engine to produce readable summaries and lifestyle-oriented suggestions.
Important: The App is not a medical device. Any analysis, summary, or suggestion is not medical diagnosis, treatment, or professional medical advice. If you have persistent sleep problems or health concerns, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Please read this Policy before using the App. If you do not agree, do not use the relevant features or revoke permissions in your device settings.
2. Information we may process
Depending on which features you use and what your operating system allows, we may process the following:
(1) Microphone (audio-derived signals)
Used to assess ambient noise level (e.g. quick environment check, pre-sleep snapshot, noise bands and event summaries during a sleep session). Processing focuses on features and statistics; we do not intend to persist full-length raw recordings that could fully reconstruct speech on device storage. If you deny microphone access, some features may be unavailable or limited.
(2) Motion sensors (e.g. accelerometer)
May be read at a relatively low rate during sleep sessions to coarsely estimate rest vs. movement; not for clinical-grade sleep staging.
(3) Ambient light
On supported devices, light sensor readings; where the sensor is missing or unreliable, you may use manual bands or levels.
(4) Sleep session and report-related data
Includes session start and end times (including times you manually confirm), subjective ratings or feelings, brief inputs during pre-sleep preparation, and report summaries and timeline aggregates (including noise event summaries and data-gap explanations).
(5) Suggestion feedback (on-device by default)
Lightweight in-app feedback such as whether a suggestion was helpful. By default stored only on your device to improve local presentation and rule-based experience.
Current release: The App does not integrate a separate third-party crash reporting or analytics SDK. If we add one later, we will disclose it in the App or release notes and update this Policy.
3. Purposes of processing
(1) Core features: environment quick check, pre-sleep preparation, sleep session monitoring, morning reports, and on-device suggestions.
(2) When ads are enabled: serve ads, measure effectiveness, help prevent fraud, and meet advertising ecosystem requirements (including consent flows where applicable).
(3) Product experience: foreground service, status notification during monitoring, etc.
(4) Comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests where required.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. With a primarily local storage design, we also do not use your sleep records for unrelated sale-of-user-data purposes.
4. Storage, retention, and your controls
Without a first-party cloud account or sync, the information above is stored mainly on your device (e.g. a local database).
Retention: Generally until you delete records in the App or uninstall the App; removal after uninstall follows your operating system.
Your controls: You can manage or revoke permissions (e.g. microphone, notifications) in system settings; revocation may limit features.
If we later add cloud sync or accounts, we will update this Policy and describe uploads, purposes, retention, and cross-border processing, and obtain consent where required.
5. Advertising and third parties (Google Ads / AdMob)
The App may show ads through Google Mobile Ads (e.g. AdMob). Google and partners may process information such as device identifiers, advertising ID, and IP address for ad delivery, measurement, and fraud prevention. See: https://policies.google.com/privacy
Where required by law (e.g. EEA, UK), we may use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) or similar for consent or preference choices related to ads.
6. Permissions and system capabilities
We may request or use: microphone (as in Section 2(1)); notifications (e.g. session status or local reminders); foreground service during sleep monitoring with a visible notification. Local wake-up reminders may use alarms or exact alarms as shown in OS dialogs and in-app text.
7. Children's privacy
The App is not directed primarily at children. Minors should use the App with a parent or guardian. If you believe we processed a child's information without appropriate consent, email us below; we will handle it as required by law.
8. Third-party links
The App may link to public websites (e.g. WHO). Those sites are not covered by this Policy; follow their own terms and privacy notices.
9. International transfers
With a local-first design and no upload to our own backend in the current implementation, processing largely occurs on your device in your jurisdiction. If we introduce cross-border hosting, we will update this Policy as required by law.
10. Regional rights (summary)
Laws such as GDPR (EEA/UK), CCPA/CPRA (California), and others may grant you rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing, and to object or withdraw consent where applicable. Because core sleep data is on-device, some requests may be limited to what we actually hold (e.g. support emails). Contact us at the email below.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. For material changes, we will notify you via in-app messages, store release notes, or other reasonable means. Continued use means you accept the revised Policy unless applicable law says otherwise.
