2023/24 Speakers

13th October 2023: Ed Walker

Ed spent 10 years working in overseas relief and development, mainly working in war zones and disaster hit areas in Africa for Tearfund’s Disaster Management team. His final post was as Programme Director reaching over 100,000 war affected Darfurians and chairing the NGO Steering Committee. On moving to the UK he was Director of the YMCA Client Services. He then founded a charity, Hope into Action, enabling the church to house the vulnerable. They have over 80 homes in over 20 towns, winning multiple awards. He is author of two books: Reflections from the Scorched Earth and A House Built on Love. Ed was awarded an MBE for services to Homelessness. He is married to an amazing wife with three children. In September Ed took up the role of Executive Director for A Rocha International.

10th November 2023: Anne Calver

Following a Bible college degree, Anne married Gavin and began her ministry journey serving at Youth for Christ leading a National gap year programme. She also wrote for YFC resources and Roy Crowne (the National Director then). Following two miracles babies (Amelie and Daniel) she stepped into leadership in the Baptist Church, for five years in Oldbury, West Midlands and another five in Stanmore, North London. Since 2020, after writing their 3rd book ‘Unleashed, the Acts Church today,’ Anne began pioneering ‘Unleashed’ the charity, primarily a movement of family seeking to live like the early Church and move with the Holy Spirit. 

1st December 2023: Deirdre Brower-Latz

Deirdre is the Principal of Nazarene Theological College (NTC), Manchester since 2012. Ordained in 1996, she pastored in urban communities in the UK. She continues to serve among local congregations in urban environments as a preaching pastor and leadership mentor. Deirdre teaches in the area of practical theology focusing on issues relating to justice, the community, the church and Wesleyan theology. Deirdre holds a PhD from The University of Manchester, an M.A. in Christian Holiness. Most recently she has been involved in a three year research project working on the question: “What does it mean to be a church on the margins?” Deirdre is married to Andrew, loves their large chocolate labrador, and enjoys drystone walling, readings, podcasts, politics hiking and all things outdoors.

12th January 2024: Andrew Acheson

Andy has been the Minister of St Anne’s Church in Grantham since summer 2023, a church revitalisation project within Lincoln Diocese. Before this he served his Curacy at St George’s Church in Stamford. At the Keswick Convention Andy heads up the youth ministry in Week 1, and has spoken several times in the main tent for the All-Age services. He is married to Katie, and they have three young daughters, and a very soppy cocker spaniel. Andy is a former youth worker and music minister, and has served the church in Northern Ireland, Sheffield, Dorset and London. Andy loves to talk about and sing about how good Jesus is, and how his light and love bring hope to this world. Andy’s passions involve song writing and spoken word poetry. Andy is sport mad (Football, Cricket, F1 and NFL). He’s also a bit of a film buff and enjoys nothing more than an evening devouring a good crime novel, or twiddling around on the guitar.

 


9th February 2024: Sam Allberry


We will be using the video of Sam's first talk from the first week of the 2023 Keswick Ministries Conference. His session is entitled 'How We Can Be Sure' and is based on 1 John.


Sam Allberry speaks around the world as a pastor, preacher and apologist. He is the author of Seven Myths About Singleness, Is God Anti-Gay? and What God Has To Say About Our Bodies. Sam is in the process of moving to the US to join the staff at Immanuel Nashville and co-hosts the podcast You’re Not Crazy.

8th March 2024: Victor Jack


Victor Jack has been involved in evangelism and Bible teaching for over 50 years. He initiated the Sizewell Hall Christian Conference and Camping Centre on the East Coast in 1975. He organised and chaired the Billy Graham mission at Portman Road football ground in Ipswich in 1984 to which 100,000 people came to the stadium over 5 nights. Victor has worked in Israel for over 22 years in short periods, was chairman of the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem and has made over 50 visits there. His booklet ‘Believe and Be Baptised,’ used by many different churches, has been translated into 80 different languages. One of his passions is Personal Evangelism, helping others to share their faith in a natural way. Victor was married to Meg for 48 years until she died of cancer in 2010. Their three sons along with their wives are all committed Christians serving God in different ways.
