What is a Ride-Along?
Salt Lake City Police offers civilian Ride-Alongs, otherwise known as a 10-12 or R/A. This is a form of patrol where a civilian spectator attends a Officer's patrol unit. As a civilian, you will gain more knowledge of what it is like becoming a Officer for Salt Lake City Police. If you are interested in attending a ride-along, contact an online Officer and fill out the waiver listed below.
Requirements
Civilian must have a clear-standing record, no blacklists.
No firearms, melee weapons, tools, etc., during R/A.
Must equip a ballistic vest under clothing (roleplayed, not actual accessory).
Must obey Officers command at all times.
Must remain in the Officer's vehicle unless instructed out.
Not permitted to take Officer’s firearm and fight assailants.
Must show no signs of disrespect or ill-intent to the Officer.
Will sit in the front passenger seat.
Will not touch, press, or fidget with any officer utility unless instructed.
Must visit the station, must sign a liability waiver as well as be searched.
No video-taking or recording (no RP recordings, Medal Clips are exempt).
Must wear casual clothing: No Mask, No Firearm Holsters, No Chains
Must comply with the ending of R/A at any time, returned to station.
Emergencies
Recruits / civilians will find safety using their discretion of the situation at hand. If it is safer in the vehicle, the recruit will hide in the Officer’s vehicle, remain silent, and dial 911 immediately. If there is no imminent threat to the recruit, they may run away from the active scene, and find a hiding place. They may also seek any LEO in the area, or contact 911. By attending the R/A in the first place, cadets and civilians accept the liability and risk of safety. In reality, extra steps are made to prevent R/A casualty. While we aim for a realistic roleplay environment in SLCRP, it is a breach of Officer safety as well as the public safety, as in comparison, high-risk calls occur often in roleplay.
A R/A may respawn, and continue their R/A in such cases they are killed.
