Kit list
This camera was used by my Mum to shoot videos for her business, I chose to use it instead of an FX9 for availability, personal familiarity and excellent telephoto capacity of x22 zoom. This made it a portable and versatile camera ready for wide shots to extreme zooms.
This old video from 2014 details how to use the base functions of the AC-AG 130 and allowed me to refresh myself on most of the functions (after reading the manual)
I also learnt about the white balance feature and the backlight feature that would help with anything under exposed on the days of shooting.
I'm choosing to shoot on an A6000 over an A7Siii for a few reasons, It is more portable meaning shooting on the go is feasible. It also has the same Sony in-camera picture effects called Posterisation which was a specific look I wanted to shoot for my film to emulate and push forward the high contrast look of Aronofskys Pi. Finally it has a smaller sensor meaning the Anamorphic Lens Fits perfectly and doesn't need to be cropped in camera.
This lens from Sirui has up to 33% enlargement on either side of the lens. This gives a FOV effect similar to a 37.5mm. It also features an apeture ring on the side of the lens that in my testing allows pulling the light to play with how the posterisation feature.
This video from In Depth Cine made me decide to shoot with partially anamorphic for the aspect ratio of 2.35:1, and also seeing how DOP's such as Roger Deakins crop the top and bottom of spherical shots them in Post Production to achieve this aspect ratio. I decided to do this with my project for the cinematic look it would lend to my film.
This Camera owned by my sound recordist is a 5" mirrorless camera that can shoot 4k/60fps with multiple in camera preset looks. Useful because it can also be attached easily to a gimbal for some shots. This guarantees steady shots and can be used to improvise any necessary tracking shots.
An affordable tripod that can switch between horizontal and vertical operation with ease. It excels at all heights, from the ground to around 7 foot 5. This flexibility and ease of movement allows changing of angles and shots easier then heavier tripods.
It is lightweight, compact enough and can also mount heavier camera systems then Manfrottos 190 series of tripods. This means it will work nicely with the Panasonic AC/AG camera.
Sony UWP-D11
Radio Mics are always a sound option, although I have never used them before. They are discreet and wireless ways of getting longer range shots yet still having sound. I prefer a dedicated sound recordist with boomstick yet these can easily plug into the Panasonic AC-AG 130 with a Jack to XLR converter.
The Zoom H5 is a handy recorder that can be used as a base for audio if the panasonic didnt have any XLRS, however because I do, the stereo microphones on top are useful for picking up any atmos tracks to be used in the edit.
It can record Mono and Stereo Channels of Audio and has a large LCD screen to see volume levels.
The Aputure MC is a highly portable, magnetic LED light that can be used as a side or fill light, even with potential to use as a keylight in dark scenes with one area highlighted such as in the foot tunnel. It has a long battery life meaning if used sparingly it will last a whole day of shooting.
It has full Hue, Saturation and Intensity (HSI) controls with colour temps from 3200k to 6200k. This might not be incredibly useful with black and white grade but nevertheless lighting is lighting
Post Production
I did research for post production IN THE PROCESS of editing, this was like a way of troubleshooting my problmes and researching at the same time.I used a lot of Youtube Tutorials to make life easier for me.
This was a crucial video that presented me with an easy fix to my problem of shooting in an anamorphic footage.
I added black bars to emulate the anamorphic aspect ratio to the rest of my project this video helped me to do so.
This Nesting Sequence was in response to a mesage from someone who told me how to put a bunch of clips into a sequence to make life easier for me. I watched this video to figure it out.
This video was watched to help me create a scrolling title credits to give it a professional feel. This Youtuber has an easy to understand and succinct style that made understanding.
