Statute of the Commission on Slavic Micro-Languages of the International Committee of Slavists (ICS)
In accordance with the publication of the General Principles governing the Statutes of the Commissions of the ICS, the members of the Commission shall receive formal notification of their status.
The election of new members of the Commission on Slavic Micro-Languages takes place at business meetings of the Commission. Candidates should be proposed in writing by at least two (2) of its members and are elected if supported by a majority of those present.
Membership of the Commission shall terminate at the member's own request, as communicated in writing to the Convener of the Commission, or after three (3) consecutive unexplained absences from meetings of the Commission.
The Commission shall have an executive consisting of a Convener, a Deputy Convener and a Secretary. The executive is elected at a business meeting of the Commission for a term of five (5) years. The Convener of the Commission [or in his or her absence the Deputy Convener] presides over business meetings of the Commission.
The executive of the Commission shall ensure that all countries interested in research into Slavic micro-languages are adequately represented on the Commission.
Academic and business meetings of the Commission shall be held, if possible, every two (2) years. In the year of the International Congress of Slavists, a business meeting of the Commission shall be held at the Congress. Where appropriate, academic and business meetings may take place at the same time.
When papers are presented at academic meetings in languages other than Russian or English, it is recommended that handouts, slides, and other working materials be provided with translations in one or other of the above-mentioned languages.
The official record of any business meeting of the Commission shall be the minutes of that meeting. The minutes are drawn up by the Secretary in one of the languages of the meeting, and the draft text is circulated to all members of the Commission. The minutes are then approved at the next business meeting, and a copy is sent to the Coordinator of Commissions of the ICS within one month of the meeting. It is expected that contacts between members of the Commission will take place in electronic form.
It is the duty of the members of the Commission to maintain a high scientific level of research in Slavic Studies and to actively participate in the organization of scientific meetings.
Academic and business meetings of the Commission may take place in person, online or in hybrid form, as decided by the members.
