PD Dr. Malinka Pila
Malinka Pila is currently “Privatdozentin” (PD, Assistant Professor) at the University of Konstanz (Germany), where she earned her “Habilitation” in 2023 with a cumulative monograph on the influence of Romance varieties on the verb system of Resian, a Slovene-based micro-language spoken in north-eastern Italy. In this work, titled Studien zum resianischen Verbsystem. 13 Arbeiten zu den grammatischen Kategorien des Verbs und ihren Interaktionen im totalen slavisch-romanischen Sprachkontakt, Resian is compared with other Slovene-based varieties spoken in Italy (Tersko and Nadiško) and Austria (Carinthian Slovene). This analysis is the culmination of Dr. Pila’s extensive field research along the Italian-Slovenian border, conducted as part of the DFG Project Der Verbalaspekt in west- und südslavischen Sprachinseln (University of Konstanz, 2015-2021).
Malinka Pila started her career at the Università di Padova (Italy), where she gained her PhD in 2013 with a comparative monograph on the meanings and functions of perfective and imperfective verbs in Russian and standard Slovenian.
Since 2004, Malinka Pila has been a member of the Glossematic Circle, which practices the theory of the Danish linguist Louis Hjelmslev in its various domains of application.
Her research interests focus on Slavic-Romance language contact, Slavic Verb, Slavic declension and numeral systems, Semiotics.
