Owner/Operator, Skylyn Eyes Aerial Photography

Kylyn is Part 107 FAA-Certified Drone Pilot, commercially licensed to fly small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS). She has earned the Unmanned Safety Institute's sUAS Safety Certification Level 1, an industry-recognized rating for knowledge of conducting safe small UAS operations. Her photos have been used in landscaping awards submissions of M.J. Design Associates, LLC.

Kylyn is a rising sophomore at Yale University, attending on a full-tuition scholarship through the United States Space Force. She participates in the Air Force ROTC program at Detachment 009,serves as the Space Policy Project Leader for the Yale Undergraduate Aerospace Association, and is the National Outreach Team Lead of i5 Space.

BACKGROUND

Kylyn received her Part 107 license through the Aviation Academy dual enrollment program of The Ohio State University and Dublin Jerome High School. Always having a passion for entrepreneurship, and desiring to benefit small businesses, Kylyn quickly realized the potential of high-quality aerial photography to take traditional forms of marketing to new heights.

Kylyn captures Skylyn Eyes media with her DJI Mavic Air 2 drone and uses Photoshop and Movavi Video Editor Plus software to provide the best possible products.

SAFETY MANAGEMENT

In order to conduct safe operations, Skylyn Eyes will often have a visual observer (VO) accompany the remote pilot-in-command (RPIC). The responsibility of the VO will be to fulfill the UAS visual line of sight requirements stipulated in 14 CFR Part 107.

The RPIC and VO will also collaborate to conduct pre-flight checks before every job. The following precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of each flight:

Inspecting the unmanned aerial vehicle’s propellers, body, controller, and batteries for scratches or other signs of wear
Checking the charge of the batteries, controller, and operating device
Reviewing flight objectives
Checking NOTAMs in the area
Checking the current and forecasted weather via METARs and TAFs
Testing the operation of anti-collision lights if operating during civil twilight or night
Obtaining a LAANC (if flying in a class of airspace other than G)
Having Part 107 certification and drone registration available

Furthermore, the RPIC will keep a record of any incidents and a parts replacement log in order to track the health of the drone and the safety of the company operations.

Liability insurance will be purchased on-demand for each site visit with the SkyWatch Drone Insurance app, covering up to $1 million for accidental property damage and/or bodily injury.
