Every F1 fan that has ever watched Cars was excited for the transformation of Rusteze to Dinoco when Ferrari annouced their new blue livery this week in Miami. The disappointment I, and many others in the community, felt when the liveries were revealed, and there was about five inches of blue on the car. This is virtually the same livery as the standard one, simply replacing the canary yellow with baby blue. Oh, and did I mention the brand-new HP advertisements practically covering the front and rear wings and emblazoned right on the center of the car. The only thing keeping me from giving this livery an F is the nice baby blue wheel covers. The stage was set by both the team's promotions leading up to the reveal, and the popularity of Ferrari in general, and at the end of the day, it just didn't live up to the hype.
Looking back, this was absolutely the special livery we should've been hyping up over the last two weeks. Everything about this was perfect, from the car wash promotion material, to the release, to the livery itself. The yellow-to-purple gradient on the side pods and the nose is beautiful, and even the detail on the front and rear wings looks amazing. The primary blue color used in the standard livery remains in the majority of the middle of the car, but it still works well with the multicolored aesthetic of the repainted portions. As a VCARB fan, hopefully driving this beautiful vehicle will help the drivers bounce back from a double-DNF in Shanghai.
