Since this is a web tool and you can simply download the backgrounds from the website directly to your Meta Quest 2, you don't need any other resources. Creating, selecting and activating the skyboxes can all be done in Virtual Reality.

Hi,

Recently I tried to enable the new WebXr layers feature so that the Quest 2 renders both eyes in a single pass.

It is most definitely a performance improvement, however I did see 2 issues when enabling this feature with a skybox and environment:

Hello @RaananW,

Since pull request [XR] Fix updateTransformMatrix for multiview by rgerdĀ  Pull Request #11934Ā  BabylonJS/Babylon.jsĀ  GitHub was merged, this immediate issue looks much better. Really appreciate the fix

Note that nothing on renderingGroupId=0 actually renders, so all items except the skybox are moved to renderingGroupId=1, which ensures they are rendered.

All of the rendered items are correctly anti-aliased on the Quest 2. Am I missing something in the configuration which enables anti-aliasing correctly on the Quest 2 when multi-view is enabled? Or is this an example of a real issue, and that samples should in fact be set to the value held within the Engine.getCaps().maxSamples ?

Spotted by @Lunayian on Twitter, a new Custom Skybox View setting in the Experimental section of the v54 software lets you change this skybox. There are 3 preinstalled skyboxes to choose from, or you can upload your own from the file system.

Hi,

I am currently working on a VR application and after the upgrade from Unity 2019.3.15f1 to Unity 2021.1.4f1 we experience strange black artifacts in the skybox.

These artifacts only occur in the build on the device, in the editor everything looks fine.

The artifacts flicker in and out - only visible for a frame or two.

Its linked to the skybox shader - using solid color solves the issue but is no option since we need a skybox.

I have disabled/reenabled MSAA, HDR in the settings without any success.

We currently use OpenGLES3 as Graphics API and use linear color space.

PowerBeatsVR accepts skyboxes in either equirectangular panorama or 6-sided horizontal cross cubemap format. Such skyboxes are usually saved as PNG or JPEG image. This format will then be internally converted to a spherical environment, as shown in the following picture.

Replace your skybox. This has only happened to one known individual and for whatever the reason was his default skybox was the known cause. Create your own material with your own images and go to Window > Rendering > Lighting Settings and replace your skybox as the first option. Re-upload your project.

Following the reveal of the hydration teaser, WolfQuest: Anniversary Edition, skyboxes are no longer utilised in favour of the natural and dynamic progression of time; support was dropped because skyboxes cannot easily transition between them without it becoming too obvious to the audience. To compensate for this, the game world is designed in such a way that even more terrain, trees, foliage and objects extend beyond the border, creating the illusion of there being more depth to the level design. It is not currently known whether skyboxes will be retained in some form for the mobile edition of the remake for compatibility.

WolfQuest: Classic (2.7) and Legacy (2.5.1) versions of WolfQuest feature real-world photography from or around the areas surrounding each episode's titular location in Yellowstone National Park, while Lost River uses skyboxes created from a 3D-constructed environment with real sky photography from an unspecified location and unknown source.

Yes with even a very old laptop you'll be fine with Heresphere (Sidequest version). It's just going to grab the files from your laptop wirelessly, but the hard work of decoding and playing the scenes is done on the headset. I would recommend XBVR to manage your files, it integrates perfectly with Heresphere. This will be a way better experience than anything else IMHO - although you'd still want to use DEO to browse SLR for new content.

What I meant with Heresphere is it didn't look like there was a way to get the actual player on Quest 2. Not in the app store on there and I guess I couldn't figure out how to do it through the Quest browser if it's possible with sidequest, cause as I mentioned I tried before with Quest Link and wirelessly connecting to my laptop and said wasn't compatible and I wasn't able to access anything on there. Thought I remember reading there was a way to get Heresphere if you had droid phone through the Google app store on there but not iPhone, which is what I have.

doorsareopen if you want the best heresphere is the answer. you can install sidequest on laptop, connect quest 2 to laptop with usb cable, search heresphere on sidequest store and install. might need to enable developer mode on the quest 2 sideload but thats easy and there are lots of guides online. heresphere also a fully functional free version btw. e24fc04721
