Come Along on our Journey Toward Reconciliation!
Check out our Roadmap tab to see where we started and where we are today.
Why did we start this challenge for change?
“Because we need Indigenous children to have proper schools and water” -Henry
“To show to the whole entire school because Indigenous People were not treated the same as public school” - Victoria
“We found out how Indigenous People are treated not like us and we wanted to do something about it because we don’t think it is fair” - Maya
“Because we learned that Indigenous People don’t have safe and comfy schools” -Michael
“to help the First Nations kids to get more money for their schools” - Micah
How are we trying to fix the problem?
“We did Shannen’s Dream of Action because we need to continue Shannen’s Dream” -Henry
“telling the whole entire school about Shannen’s Dream so that more people know how Indigenous People are treated so that they can tell the Government that they have to change it” Victoria
“We want to change Canada to treat Indigenous People fairly and we can help them get great education” -Maya
“We are trying to give them a comfy school by donating money and teaching other people about what is happening to them” - Michael
“We’re trying to help by donating so they have more money for their schools” - Micah
Apple Challenge for Change
As an Apple Innovation School, we used Clips, iMovie, Keynote, Notes and Apple TV to support our Challenge for Change.
“We have 20 grade 2’s in our class, we want to make a big change in Canada because we need more people to tell the government to change the law and give Indigenous schools the same amount of money as us so that they can make their dreams come true too!” - Victoria and Maya
“Our grade 5/6 class has 25 students we wanted to make a change and have equal rights for everyone. It’s not fair that they don’t have the same educational opportunities that we do. We cannot stay quiet when things are not right. We want to make a change and we’re going to make a change!” – Natalie
