LEE LAB
Advanced Additive Manufacturing and Applications
Welcome to Lee Lab!
Welcome to the LEE LAB, a dynamic interdisciplinary research group nestled within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SKKU. Our primary mission at the Lee Lab is to explore innovative solutions by harnessing the power of advanced additive manufacturing, specifically 3D printing techniques.
Our research pursuits are organized into three distinctive categories:
Advancing 3D Printing Systems: Within this realm, we delve into the intricate world of 3D printing system instrumentation. This involves a fusion of hardware and software engineering expertise to create cutting-edge additive manufacturing systems. Our overarching goal is to elevate the art of 3D printing by enhancing key aspects such as print resolution, print speed, print area, and the ability to work with multiple materials. Our ambition is to transcend the existing limitations and further amplify the advantages of current 3D printing methods, positioning them as a central pillar in modern manufacturing.
Functional 3D Structures and Materials: Additive manufacturing empowers us to craft unique and functional 3D structures using a diverse array of materials. From intricate cellular lattice structures to innovative designs, these creations offer additional functionalities beyond their primary purpose. These newfound abilities extend to various applications, such as energy absorption, filtration, high surface areas, liquid containment, and more. The adaptability of lattice structures opens up a wealth of possibilities in a multitude of fields.
Applications: The transformative potential of additive manufacturing is already evident across numerous sectors, including healthcare, semiconductor technology, optics, robotics, and beyond. 3D printing plays a pivotal role in rapidly producing prototypes that optimize processes in various fields. Moreover, our advanced 3D printing capabilities unlock exciting opportunities in microfabrication, revolutionizing the development of delicate tools and devices that were previously constrained by conventional microfabrication methods.
At the LEE LAB, we are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of additive manufacturing and contributing to a future where 3D printing is at the forefront of innovation in engineering and beyond. Join us in our quest to shape the future of manufacturing through groundbreaking research and innovative solutions.
