Postdoctoral Associate
Yale University
I am a postdoctoral researcher studying climate science in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Yale University, working with Alexey Fedorov.
Before joining Yale, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Irreversible Climate Change Research Center at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, where I worked with Soon-Il An while concurrently fulfilling my mandatory military service as a Technical Research Personnel. I earned my Ph.D. in 2023 from Yonsei University, where I was advised by Soon-Il An. In spring 2024, I was a visiting researcher in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, working with Fei-Fei Jin.
My research aims to understand the physical mechanisms of climate variability and climate change using theory, modeling, and observational analysis. I am particularly interested in the large-scale dynamics of the atmosphere and ocean, and their interactions with the cryosphere and land systems.
My current research is mainly focused on climate variability modes—such as El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD)—as well as the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) and abrupt, irreversible climate change. I am also broadly interested in various aspects of climate dynamics, including weather-climate interactions.
