SK Chairperson's Corner

Gabriel Matthew “Gab” Lopez is a dedicated youth leader and public servant currently serving as the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairperson of Barangay Kanluran Kabubuhayan, Nagcarlan, Laguna. At 23 years old, he champions a governance anchored on transparency, accountability, and youth empowerment under his guiding principle, “Bukas na Pamahalaan, Tungo sa Maunlad na Bayan!”

He is the National Vice Chairperson of the Model SK Network, advocating for institutional reforms and capacity-building initiatives for SK officials nationwide. He also previously served as Area Coordinator of YNFORM under CYAN, a program focused on combating disinformation and promoting the right to information among Filipino youth.

Professionally, Gab also works is a Accounting Analyst, bringing strong expertise in financial management and governance. He has led initiatives promoting freedom of information, public transparency, and inclusive youth participation in local governance.

Recognized for his leadership, Gab is an Outstanding Sangguniang Kabataan Awardee (2024) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government and a Tatak Nagcarlangin Awards (2020) Nominee in the Kabataan sa Mataas na Paaralan category.

A valedictorian in 2020, he continues to inspire the youth through his work in governance, digital rights advocacy, and community development—building empowered communities through a bukas, tapat, at progresibong pamahalaan.
