Skip & Save Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 26, 2025
## 1. Introduction
Welcome to Skip & Save, a mobile application developed by JanoGroup LLC that helps you make smarter eating decisions to reduce calories and save money. Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices available to you. By downloading or using Skip & Save, you agree to the terms described here.
## 2. Information We Collect
### 2.1 Personal Information
- No Account Required: You do not need to create an account or sign in.
- No PII Collected by Default: We do not collect personally identifiable information (such as name, email address, phone number, or precise location).
- Support Communications: If you contact us (e.g., by email), we may receive your contact details and message content solely to respond and support you.
### 2.2 Photos and Food Identification Data
- Optional Photos: If you choose to take or select a photo (e.g., of a meal or receipt), it’s used to help estimate calories or savings and improve your in-app experience.
- Processing Location:
- On-Device Processing: When supported by your device, analyses happen locally and images do not leave your phone.
- Cloud Processing: If certain features require server-side processing, images are transmitted securely (via HTTPS) and are not stored long term. When used, they are automatically deleted within 24 hours after results are returned. We do not use your images to train models without your explicit consent.
### 2.3 Local Data Storage
All app-generated data stays on your device unless you choose to share it:
- History and Ledger: Day-by-day totals and recent “skip” events (e.g., item name, estimated calories and money saved, date/time).
- App Settings: Preferences like theme, units, and notification options.
- Notifications: Local notification schedules and preferences.
You can delete this data at any time from the app’s settings (where available), or by deleting app data in your device settings or uninstalling the app.
### 2.4 Anonymous Usage Data
To improve reliability and performance, we may collect anonymized, aggregated statistics, such as:
- Frequency of app launches and session duration
- Feature usage counts (e.g., number of skips logged)
- Crash logs and performance diagnostics (only if you opt in)
This data is anonymous and cannot be linked back to you.
## 3. Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following services:
- Advertising (AdMob): We use Google Mobile Ads SDK to serve ads. The ad provider may collect device identifiers (e.g., advertising ID), IP address, approximate location, and performance metrics to deliver, measure, and improve ads. Consent is managed via Google’s User Messaging Platform (where applicable) and Apple’s App Tracking Transparency on iOS.
Learn more: Google AdMob/Advertising Policies and Google Privacy Policy.
- Consent & Tracking (iOS): On iOS, we may request permission via App Tracking Transparency to allow personalized ads. You can deny this request; the app remains usable. You can change this later in iOS Settings.
- Platform Services: Google Play Services (Android) and Apple frameworks (iOS) may collect diagnostics like crash reports and performance data per their respective privacy policies.
- Notifications: We use local notifications to remind or encourage progress. No push tokens are sent to our servers.
- External Links & Sharing: When you share content via the system share sheet or open links with your browser or other apps, that activity is handled by those apps and governed by their privacy policies. We do not receive recipients’ data.
- Nutrition/Content Sources: When the app fetches nutrition or reference data from external sources, requests are sent without personal identifiers. These services may log standard technical details (e.g., IP address) per their policies.
## 4. Data Security
- Encryption in Transit: All communication with our servers (when used) uses HTTPS/TLS.
- On-Device Protection: Your data is stored locally in app storage, protected by your device’s operating system sandbox. We do not apply additional encryption ourselves. Please protect your device with a passcode or biometric lock.
- No Long-Term Server Storage: If cloud processing is used for photos or analyses, they are not retained beyond what’s needed to deliver results (typically auto-deleted within 24 hours).
While we follow industry best practices, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
## 5. Children’s Privacy
Skip & Save is intended for users aged 13 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided information, please contact us so we can promptly delete it.
## 6. Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers
Skip & Save is provided “as is” and “as available.” JanoGroup LLC makes no warranties—express or implied—about accuracy or suitability for a specific purpose. We are not responsible for outcomes such as misclassification, estimation errors, data loss, or damages resulting from app use. This app is for informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or financial advice.
## 7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If significant changes occur, we will notify you in-app or update the “Effective Date” above. Continued use of the app after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
