About otter mountain:

Otter Mountain is a small Ski area located just 7 miles from Georgetown, Colorado. It has 2 operational Ski Lifts that open up nearly 300 acres of terrain to skiers and riders. The ski area is best known for its proximity to the Denver metropolitan area and its moderately good conditions given its location. Unfortunately, as the ski area is on the east side of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, the mountain is plagued with dry conditions, frequent strong downslope winds, and a shorter winter season than most Colorado ski areas. Otter Mountain makes up for its poor east slope conditions because its at such a high elevation, and more than half of the mountain is above treeline. The ski area's base is the highest in Colorado, at 10,600 ft (3,230 m) and the summit is at an astonishing 12,700 ft (3,870 m). The ski area is long and skinny with a huge amount of vertical for a ski area of its size, and don't forget to bring your rock skies, because the expert runs at Otter mountain typically have thin snow cover for most of the year. Otter mountain has one of the best snowmaking systems in Colorado, allowing for some good groomed runs and beginner terrain. All things considered, Otter mountain is a great low budget resort that is close to Denver, but don't expect much more than quiet runs and a friendly atmosphere.
