SkinScope Privacy Policy

SkinScope (“SkinScope,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how SkinScope collects, uses, processes, shares, retains, and deletes information when you use the SkinScope application.

SkinScope provides educational skincare information, skin-analysis tools, and wellness recommendations. SkinScope does not provide medical diagnoses and is not a substitute for advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on the features you use, SkinScope may process:

Face and Skin Photos

When you use the SkinScope scanner, you may choose to submit a photograph of your face or skin.

Because a photograph may contain your face, SkinScope treats submitted photographs as sensitive information.

The photograph is used to:

SkinScope does not permanently store submitted face or skin photographs in the application. The photograph is used when the scanner is being used and is removed from SkinScope's application storage after the scanning process is completed.

SkinScope does not sell submitted photographs or use them for advertising.

2. Third-Party AI Processing

SkinScope uses Anthropic's Claude artificial intelligence service to process photographs submitted through the SkinScope skin scanner.

When you choose to use the scanner, the photograph you submit is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude service so that the image can be analyzed and the requested skin wellness results can be generated.

Before the photograph is transmitted, SkinScope will explain:

SkinScope will request your permission before transmitting the photograph to Claude.

If you decline permission, SkinScope will not transmit the photograph to Claude for the requested analysis.

Anthropic processes information according to the terms and privacy practices applicable to the Claude service used by SkinScope.

3. How We Use Information

4. How We Share Information

SkinScope does not sell users' personal information or face photographs.

When you use the skin scanner and provide the required permission, your submitted photograph is shared with Anthropic's Claude service for the purpose of processing the image and generating the requested skin-analysis results.

SkinScope does not share submitted photographs with third parties for advertising purposes.

Any third-party service receiving face or skin data from SkinScope is expected to provide privacy and security protections consistent with the protections described in this Privacy Policy and applicable requirements.

5. Storage and Retention of Face Photos

SkinScope does not permanently store submitted face or skin photographs.

A photograph submitted through the scanner is used during the scanning process. After the scanning process is completed, SkinScope removes the photograph from its application storage and does not retain it as a stored user photograph.

Because the photograph is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude service to perform the requested analysis, processing and retention by Anthropic are governed by the terms applicable to the Claude service used by SkinScope.

Other information associated with your use of SkinScope, such as skincare routines, products, or results, may be retained for as long as necessary to provide the application's features while you use the application.

6. Deletion of Your Information

Because SkinScope does not permanently store submitted face or skin photographs in the application, SkinScope does not retain a stored copy of the photograph after the scanning process is completed.

We will take reasonable steps to process valid deletion requests for information under our control, subject to information that we may be required to retain for legal, security, or other legitimate purposes.

If information has been transmitted to a third-party service provider, SkinScope will take reasonable steps to request deletion when required by applicable agreements and law.

7. Withdrawing Consent

You may choose whether to use the SkinScope scanner.

Before a photograph is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude service, SkinScope will request your permission.

You may select Cancel or otherwise decline permission if you do not want your photograph transmitted for analysis.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

8. Children's Privacy

SkinScope is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian involvement where required by applicable law.

9. Security

We take reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information processed through SkinScope from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

SkinScope provides educational skincare and wellness information.

Information provided by SkinScope is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.

Skin-analysis results and recommendations should not be considered a medical diagnosis.

SkinScope provides citations and links to sources supporting health and skincare information presented in wellness reports.

Sources may include reputable medical and scientific organizations, peer-reviewed research, and other authoritative health information.

Users can access applicable sources through the citations or “Sources” section provided with the relevant wellness information in the application.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to SkinScope, our data practices, or applicable legal requirements.

When significant changes are made, we will update the effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy and provide additional notice where required.
