The Strategic Partnership involves 5 partners from 5 countries which represent:

Rijn Ijssel (Lead partner), Netherlands

Rijn IJssel is a regional centre for vocational training and adult education in the city of Arnhem and its region. 12,000 Students take part in a programme; about 2,000 in adult education and 10,000 in vocational training. Rijn IJssel has about 1,300 staff involved. Our college is organised in 7 clusters, 6 are focused on specific vocational areas: Technology and ICT, Health & Welfare, Sports and Security, Economics and Beauty care, Hotel / Catering and Tourism, Art design culture and media. (EQF level 1-2-3-4-) In addition there is a separate sector for Adult Education.

Rijn IJssel has a long term experience of participating in skills competitions. More than 20 years ago they participated in national and international competitions for cooking and hospitality.

In 2014, Worldskills Netherlands got an agreement with the MBO-raad (assembly of all VET schools in the Netherlands) to organise national skills competitions, and support schools in introducing skills. This was a starting point to give skills competitions a boost at Rijn IJssel. In 2018, Rijn IJssel participated national in 23 different skills areas, including organising preliminary rounds, we reached more than 300 students. In the last years, we participated successfully on Euroskills and Worldskills.

SRC, Newry, N.Ireland UK

Southern Regional College (SRC) is the second largest College in N. Ireland. It provides training and education to over 3,500 full-time and 30,000 part-time learners each year. The College delivers services to diverse communities in six campuses across their region. The College delivers first class education and training, as recently recognised by the Education and Training Inspectorate, in exciting learning environments using latest technologies. The College has over 700 lecturers and almost 500 support staff with an annual budget of around £40 million. The College has approximately 100 community and voluntary partner groups within its catchment.

The College has a dedicated External Funding and International Affairs and Team (EFIAT). Since 2007, the EFIAT has secured over €3m in European funding through the EU Lifelong learning and ERASMUS + programmes. In September 2015, SRC was awarded the prestigious ERASMUS + VET mobility charter. This recognises the operational capacity of SRC to manage high quality VET projects based on its previous quality of VET projects.

City of Glasgow College, Scotland UK

City of Glasgow College is currently one of the largest colleges in Scotland offering a wide range of programmes at non advanced, advanced and professional levels to meet the needs of industry, business and commerce.

Their extensive curriculum covers areas such as Accounting and Finance, Business and Administration, Construction, Creative Industries, IT, Marketing and Procurement. In addition we have subject specialists in the areas of Hairdressing and Beauty, Health, Design, Engineering, Food and Hospitality, Maritime Studies, Holistic Therapies, Sport and Trade Union Studies. The College services over 27,000 students (session 2016-17), with 1,359 members of staff across the City Centre of Glasgow. Over 30% of our students come from disadvantaged post code areas, some of whom are eligible for ESF support. We have around 250 asylum seekers/refugee students in our annual cohort as well as groups of students with special educational needs (SEN). The College also hosts over 2000 EU and over 100 overseas (non EU) students annually and the student profile is diverse with over 130 nationalities represented.

The College has a strong track record of involvement with European projects, both under the structural and non-structural funding programmes. Several projects have involved actions to develop innovative teaching and learning resources in a range of curricular areas, some to improve quality systems and procedures. More recently we have developed projects in supporting the development of inclusive workplace environments for aspiring female Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) professionals.

Hetel, Basque country, Spain

HETEL is an association of VET colleges constituted legally in 1987 and registered in the Basque Country. It started with 18 VET colleges located in the three provinces located in the Basque region which deliver vocational education in various areas, but mainly with a focus on industry and technology, and covering EQF levels from 2 to 5.

In HETEL we are very keen on promoting the involvement of our VET schools in skills competitions in order to benefit not only the students who are selected to participate, but also the rest of students by counting with new methodologies, specialised training of teachers, stronger networks among VET colleges (from HETEL but also from abroad). In this sense, the knowledge and expertise of more experienced partners in the application can help us to grow in this field.

Salpaus, Finland

Salpaus Further Education organises initial and continuing vocational education and training in the region of Päijät-Häme. Salpaus provides a wide range of initial, vocational and specialist qualifications for young and adult students. The total number of learners is 15000. The number of staff is 611.

All qualifications are competence based and Salpaus has an active role in local, regional and national working life development. Our priorities are the quality of education and training, efficiency of learning process and the employment and active citizenship of our students. We offer diverse pathways for our students to learn at their own pace and to develop a unique combination of skills and competence needed to excel in working lifeand in society as an active individual and citizen. For this, our international activities include participation in numerous mobility and development projects within the framework of Finnish National Agency for Education, European Union and other international funding programmes. We are implementing Ecvet-tools with international partners always when it is relevant for the student.

Salpaus Further Education has about twenty years of experience in taking part in the World Skills, EuroSkills as well as national Skills Competitions. A representative of Salpaus has been an expert in the World Skills events in several trades. Currently, in Cabinetmaking and in Industrial Mechanics. Millwright, and Pâtisserie and Confectionery in 2017. In 2014 Salpaus organised a national skills competition in Lahti. The key persons involved in this project also took part in organising the event.
