About the Department
Department of Bengali started its journey with general course was back in 1996 with the establishment of our college. First general course and then Honor's course was introduced in 1999. Department deals with different branches of Mediaeval Bengali literature, Fiction, Folklore, Rabindra Sahitya, Poetry, art of rhetoric and prosody. Regular basis organization of departmental seminars, teachers' exchanges programs, CBCS mode based presentation programs, aiming towards the cultivation of Bengali culture and regular interaction among the teacher and student are the prime features of Bengali department. Thus various ways student are encouraged to cultivate their literary talents. Students also maintain a rich culture heritage through co-curricular activities by observing International language day, Teachers day, Tagore Jayanti and departmental fresher's and farewell programme. Not only students, all faculty are also actively engaged in various research platforms in literary wings and regularly participate in national and international seminars related to Bengali literature.
