I am working as Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) Surat. My broad area of research is manufacturing. I am especially interested in AI applications in sheet metal forming, additive manufacturing, conventional and non-conventional machining, and CAM. 

After graduating in Production Engineering & Management from Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur (now National Institute of Technology) in 1999, I worked as Maintenance Engineer in a sheet metal industry  at NCR Delhi. While working in that industry, I found a research problem related to the design of press tools.  I started to work in the domain of intelligent design of progressive dies using knowledge-based system (KBS) technique of AI. Then, I joined Ph.D. at M. D. University, Rohtak and obtained Ph.D. in April, 2007. During Ph.D. I also worked as Assistant Professor at Hindu College of Engineering, Sonepat, Haryana.

I have been with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SVNIT Surat since August 2007 as Associate Professor, and now  Professor since January 2019. 

My cabin and Research Lab  is in the Production Engineering section (Ground Floor) of the department.
