I will question the business change impact of this metaphor. In the first example as bad as it looks when showing the customer various car parts (which in my opinion is not necessary but it is exaggerated in this metaphor), atleast the customer is happy doing his day to day business and will plan around getting ready when he gets the car (he needs to learn driving, get licence, arrange finances etc).
