Operation Christmas Hope Evens
Saturday's Dragon Boat races at Inner Harbor Festival;
What a great weekend for our Legion at the Inner Harbor and our team. With our Vice Commander leading the way and building a team of highly motivated rowers, we had a great team building experience participating in this year's Syracuse HarborFest. The event benefits ClearPath for Veterans and the Carol Baldwin fund.
With a bunch of novice rowers we competed enormously better than we had anticipated finishing in 5th place. Better than that, we had a great weekend together building teamwork and friendships. Additionally we had the third fastest time of all the races that day. Great job by all. Thanks to all that participated including Tom Blair, Mark Probus, Dawn Teixeira, Rob Gadjo, Jen Gannon, Jed Dove, Willie Colon, Jamie Colomb, Doc Carlile, Mike Keller, Lauren Keller, Pete Nasarenko, Mac Colomb, Linda Lee, Doug McClure and last but not least Adam Saucier.

Our Post’s address honors namesake Army General Jonathan “Skinny” Wainwright, a WWII Medal of Honor recipient and Prisoner of War for 3 years in Japanese POW camps. General Wainwright’s wife Adele Holley was a Skaneateles native, and General Wainwright was a part-time resident and visitor to Skaneateles from time to time.
Over 10,000 people attended a welcome home parade along Genesee Street in the Village of Skaneateles in 1945 to honor him. He then retired in 1947 and later become the National Commander of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He died in 1953 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
