"Our beliefs all stem from a full commitment to the authority of the Bible as the inerrant, infallible Word of God. This means that we believe in the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We acknowledge our total inability to save ourselves and, in faith, depend on Christ alone as our Savior. We acknowledge Him as Covenant Lord in every area of life, and we vow together to advance His Kingdom on earth."
The name of our group comes from the Great Exchange: that our sin was placed on Christ at the cross and we have been clothed with His righteousness. Though we still struggle with sin, we have a comfort knowing that we are just in the eyes of God by His grace and that He will continue to help us follow Him in every aspect of life. As a group, we seek to study God's Word together to better understand these truths in light of this reality, and we want to cherish Christ as our savior more and more as we grow to love His Word. We also hope to give others the tools necessary to help them study the Bible on their own. Come and join in if you are interested!
"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, 'The righteous shall live by faith.'"
- Romans 1:16-17
For the Fall of 2025, we are studying the book of Hebrews! You do not need to feel obligated to read beforehand as we read the text before we start our discussion! This week, we will be studying Hebrews 3!
Starting September 2nd, we will be meeting every Tuesday from 5:30 - 7 pm on the second floor of Taylor Hall in room 2137. Hope to see you there!
Interested in joining over Zoom this semester? Reach out to us at the email below to let us know!
Our first event is happening next Friday evening, September 26th! We will be having a bonfire at one of our member's homes, which will be a great opportunity for fellowship and fun! We can give rides there as needed, but be sure to let us know if you are interested!
We believe in the Trinity: that the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit are all three God in their being but distinct in their person. There is only one God in being, but God is made up of three persons who are coequal but different in role.
We believe in the Bible: that God inspired men through the Holy Spirit to write the 66 books of the Old and New Testament to witness to the Triune God and His plan of redemption of the world.
We believe in the Fall of Man: that the sin of Adam caused sin to enter the world, leading men to fall away from the truth and love themselves instead of loving God.
We believe in the Holiness of God: that God is entirely separate and perfectly righteous. In order for Him to be a righteous judge, He must give us the punishment we deserve: eternal separation in Hell.
We believe in the Virgin Birth: that Jesus, the Son of God, humbled Himself and entered into humanity, being born of the Virgin Mary by the conception of the Holy Spirit.
We believe in the Crucifixion: that Jesus lived a sinless life but suffered for our sake where He was crucified under Pontius Pilate, died on the cross, and was buried in a tomb.
We believe in the Resurrection: that three days later, the tomb was empty because Jesus has rose bodily from the dead, being exalted into Heaven where He now sits at the right hand of the Father.
We believe in the Gospel: that we are helpless to save ourselves, but God in His love sent His Son to suffer the condemnation of sin on the Cross.
We believe in Justification: that those who believe in Him will be covered in the righteousness of Christ and have eternal life in Him. In Jesus, we have the forgiveness of sins and a sure hope.
We believe in Sanctification: that we are given the Holy Spirit that enables us to pursue a righteous life and help build up His church with fellow believers. This is to bring glory to God and is for our benefit, though these works do not save us.
We believe in the Second Coming: that Jesus will return to earth one day to judge the living and the dead. Those who trusted in Christ will be rescued and given new bodies, dwelling with him eternally in the New Heavens and New Earth.
When it comes to secondary matters, there is not 100% agreement between all of those in the study. A few of us come from a Reformed perspective and have Calvinistic theology, but not all of our members are Reformed or hold to Calvinism. As important as these questions are, our faith does not stand or fall on which side someone holds to. If you ever have questions about a particular issue and want our thoughts on it, we are more than happy to provide our thoughts to see if we can point you in the right direction. We seek to let the Bible lead our discussion to see what it thinks is important, and we can talk about those issues as they come. We hope that you might consider joining us so we can build each other up in the truth!
