WIZARD OF OZ
Presented by St James Regional Catholic School Drama Club!
April 17, 18, 19, 2026
In celebration of 25 years of theatre at St James, we are recreating our first production and a family favorite – Wizard of Oz! This classic story shows the power of friendship and finding the values inside yourself to reach your true potential.
Students will need to read the Play Contract below and affirm their acceptance of the rules before being allowed to join the cast and crew.
St James Regional Players Contract:
This contract outlines the commitment and expectations for parents/guardians and students participating in the St. James Regional Theatre Group. By signing this contract, you acknowledge your commitment to fostering a positive and productive theater experience while upholding the values of respect, teamwork, dedication, punctuality, prioritizing schoolwork, safety, and appropriate behavior.
Rehearsals:
Rehearsal Schedule can be found here . This schedule may be altered due to weather or rehearsal space availability.
A call sheet will be sent out about a week in advance. Students only need to attend the rehearsals to which they are called. Some calls will have specific times – please be as prompt as possible.
We understand that many students have other obligations such as sports or family functions. We will do our best to keep these in mind, however it is the student responsibility to share that information on their audition sheet. If your student has a large number of extracurricular commitments already, it may affect their casting.
Students will need to be available for all rehearsals marked “Tech” and for performance weekend. Students also need to come prepared with scripts and any other necessary items on hand. During rehearsal, students will need to remain quiet and under control. Those who cannot will be asked to leave early.
The Director and Production staff conversely promise to start and end rehearsals on time and communicate clearly who and what will be expected at each rehearsal.
Student Behavioral Commitment:
We are asking all participating students to agree to the following behavioral commitments:
1. Respect and Teamwork: I understand that I am expected to treat my fellow cast and crew members, directors, and all involved respectfully and work collaboratively as a team.
2. 100% Commitment: I will give my 100% commitment to all rehearsals, performances, and related activities.
3. Be Prepared: I will arrive at rehearsals and performances with my lines memorized (if applicable), songs practiced, a notepad, a pencil, and the rehearsal folder I received.
4. On Time: I will arrive on time at all rehearsals and performances and be ready to start at the designated call time.
5. School Work is a First Priority: I understand that my academic responsibilities come first. I will manage my time effectively to balance theater activities and schoolwork.
6. Safety: I will prioritize safety during all theater activities and adhere to safety guidelines provided by the director and production team.
7. Attendance: I will attend rehearsals to which I am called to the best of my abilities, however I understand that if I am not present in school during the day, I am not allowed to attend rehearsal at night.
8. Appropriate Behavior: I will conduct myself with appropriate behavior both on and off-stage, reflecting positively on the St. James Regional Theatre Group
Zero Tolerance for Inappropriate Behavior
It's essential that we maintain a positive and respectful environment for all team members.
Inappropriate behavior includes, but is not limited to:
▪ Disrespect: Treating fellow team members, cast, crew, or staff disrespectfully, including derogatory comments, offensive jokes, or any form of discrimination.
▪ Bullying or Harassment: Engaging in any form of bullying, harassment, or intimidation, whether verbal, physical, or online (automatic dismissal from the play)
▪ Insubordination: Refusing to follow directions from the production team or exhibiting a consistently negative attitude that disrupts the team's harmony.
▪ Dishonesty: Lying or misrepresenting information, including issues related to attendance, availability, or responsibilities.
▪ Disruptions: Disruptive behavior during rehearsals, performances, or other team activities detracting from the overall production experience.
Parent Participation:
Parents are vital to the success of our production. We are asking all parents to commit to volunteering and help our show run smoothly. Any parent who actively participates will receive a reduced sign up fee. A participating parent agrees to chaperone 4 play rehearsals plus volunteer to assist the weekend of the play. A description of rehearsal chaperone as well as jobs available during play weekend are listed below. A schedule will be made via sign up genius. If you are unable to attend the rehearsal that you have signed up for it is your responsibility to switch with another parent.
Rehearsal Chaperones – these parents will be responsible for helping to keep students on task, quiet and occupied during rehearsals.
Stage Crew (During Show Run) – these parents will be responsible for working with the student crew members doing set changes, pre/post show set up, mic changes and other tasks to help the show run smoothly.
