The Volunteer Emergency Service Team (V.E.S.T.) is a non-for-profit organization, dedicated to assisting the public and emergency service agencies. V.E.S.T. derived from the former Saint Joseph County Civil Defense units, and we continue that unique training. Our biggest contribution is scene security. VEST provides assistance by securing the scene, so that the law enforcement personal can go back in service and respond to other calls. This service was the origin of unit.
Today, we provide many more services including, Fire/Police Rehab, Traffic (Diversion, Road Closing, Directing), Sky Watch (for the National Weather Service), Disaster Medical Triage, Minor First Aid, and many more.
