Establishment (1957):
In 1957, our library was founded with a vision to support and empower aspiring educators at St. Joseph College of Teacher Education for Women. From its inception, it served as a beacon of knowledge, providing essential resources for those dedicated to the noble profession of teaching.
Humble Beginnings:
The early years saw our library operating in modest surroundings, yet it quickly became a hub for intellectual growth and academic development. Despite limited resources, the commitment to fostering educational excellence was evident, laying the foundation for the legacy that would follow.
Transition to the Silver Jubilee Memorial Building (1987):
A significant milestone in our journey occurred in 1987 when the library transitioned to the Silver Jubilee Memorial Building. This marked a transformative period, as the library expanded its space and resources to better serve the growing needs of the educational community.
Golden Jubilee Memorial Block (2010):
The library reached new heights on May 1, 2010, with its relocation to the state-of-the-art Golden Jubilee Memorial Block. This modern facility symbolizes our commitment to staying at the forefront of academic excellence. The Golden Jubilee Memorial Block is not just a building; it is a testament to our dedication to providing educators with a cutting-edge environment for learning and research.

The main library is situated in the 2nd floor of the Golden Jubilee Memorial Block andhas an area of 2532 sq. ft. (About. 235 sq. mtrs) .
Library has a spacious reading room with a seating capacityof 150 students
Separate cubicle with a seating capacity of 4 is available for Teacher Educators in the Library
The college library will remain open for the purpose of study between 8.30 a.m. and 05.00 p.m. on weekdays. The Library will remain closed on Sundays & other holidays. During the vacation, the library will ordinarily remain open from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., except during stock verification. The timing of the library may change as per the direction of the Principal.
Library books will be issued to the regular students for home lending only during the prescribed hour in every academic year
Two books will be issued for home lending against the Identity card of B.Ed Students and 3 books will be issued for home lending to M.Ed. Students. Pure Reference books, loose issues of periodicals, magazines, and newspapers will not be allowed out of the Library or for home lending.
The books issued for home reading must be returned to the library within seven days i.e. on or before the last date marked on the slip in the book. A fine of rupees 1/- will be charged for every day of delay. Persistent delay in returning the book/s issued for home lending will be penalized by withdrawal of the facility. While charging the fine, Sundays and holidays will also be considered.
The book may be issued for a week more provided there is no demand for the book from other students.
Books newly acquired for the library will be available for reading in the study room as soon as they are ready for use. They will be available for home reading after three months of their being ready for use in the library.
Library organizes Library Orientation Programme for the new entrants in the beginning of the academic year. The aim of this programme is to make the new members more familiar with the library resources, services and rules so that they can avail library services up to a great extent. Library also offers different training programme and workshops time to time.
