We have a need for several volunteer crew roles, which can be filled by either parents, graduates, or current students (in some cases). We already have the directors (Mr. Berko and Mrs. Martinez), musical director (Mr. Edwards), and producer (Mrs. MacKinnon). Most volunteer roles will not be required right away. To sign up for a volunteer role, please email Mrs. MacKinnon.
Choreographer: Designs and instructs cast and ensemble on movement and dance for numbers, as determined by the artistic team. Role may be combined with assistant director (Mrs. Martinez would like some help!).
Stage Manager: Supports the directors by making note, in the script, of any blocking, acting, movement, or musical direction given during rehearsal. Takes attendance for rehearsals and performances. Monitors backstage movement of actors, scenery, and properties. May also call the show from the booth. May be filled by a student.
Scenery Design: Under the direction of the artistic director, designs and constructs (or arranges for the construction of) the set. Scenery includes all background elements to set the scene, furniture, and flora. Must work within the budget set by producer.
Costume Mistress/Master: Under the direction of the artistic director, designs and purchases or fabricates the costuming necessary for the cast and ensemble. Maintains the properties table during dress rehearsal and show nights. Must work within the budget set by producer.
Properties Mistress/Master: Under the direction of the artistic director, designs and purchases (or fabricates) the properties necessary for the production. Properties include all items carried by cast and/or ensemble and items placed on furniture to set the scene. Must work within the budget set by producer.
Advertising, Promotion, Ticket Sales: This role (or more appropriately, team) has been traditionally conducted by the Parent Council (primarily Melanie Blair). Although it hasn’t been the case in past shows, some of the other roles might involve poster design, fundraising, designing the program/playbill (collecting cast bios and photographs), and running concession for the nights of the performances.
Backstage Crew: Support the scenery, costuming, or properties leads in their roles by being present during technical and dress rehearsals and for performances. Typically consists of parents.
