The most unforgettable experience that I won't forget as a STEM student was the so-called "hell weeks" of each quarter. "Hell weeks" are those weeks wherein deadlines are everywhere together with periodical exams. Not just me, but almost all of us in our class were barely surviving, as we can't sleep because of loads of tasks to do. On the other hand, these weeks are also the most memorable because sacrifices are made just to survive. And after Hell Week, the feeling of success was the best feeling that a STEM student like me really wanted. Specifically, the satisfaction of surviving a very tiring week and finishing loads of work to start another batch.

I am currently a grade 12 taking STEM as my strand. The subjects are indeed very hard to understand especially the major ones—mathematics and science subject related! You might be wondering why I have taken STEM as my strand, it’s because I want to pursue medicine someday and I have to be in line in order to become one. Now, as for my experience in studying in the Paliparan 3 SHS, I really have found it hard. It made me uncomfortable in many ways. There are times that I just wasn’t able to function well and just wanted to go home and lie down all day. That uncomfortable thought corresponded with another thought, fortunately. It’s that “ WE HAVE TO BE COMFORTABLE WITH THE UNCOMFORTABLE.” Even though all the energy I have left was to try and survive through the day, trying to comprehend the topics, I have realized that I should acknowledge how I feel. There would be times when I would just find myself feeling exhausted, I just acknowledge it. I would just take a rest from the worries of my school world. After I have a good rest, I would have the physical + mental courage to fight and do the things that I have to do again. I could proudly tell that this school, Paliparan 3, has molded me into becoming a better student. Somebody who stands firm by the right principles and somebody who strives to think critically.

Hello there! I'll call myself Betty and I want to share my experiences in our strand STEM! I am currently a grade 12 STEM student and I can say that being a STEM student is very difficult. Well, most of my classmates complain all the time because our strand is really difficult. But worry not, this strand is not all about having difficulties in academics, there are also experiments in General Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. The experiment that I enjoyed the most is the Naked Egg experiment and that's all I can say for now because I don't want to spoil the one who is reading this. The school also has a laboratory that serves as the room for STEM 11 -2 and STEM 12-2. Inside the laboratory, they have a microscope, beaker, flask, thermometer, graduated cylinders, and more. I also found a circle of friends that helps me whenever I need help. The teachers here at Paliparan III Senior High School are mostly considerate and kind too.
If you are still unsure whether you will take the path of STEM or not, here's a piece of advice from your senior; I know that you, yes you, the one who is reading this right now, I know that you are confused about what is the perfect strand for you but please don't think of STEM as a strand for geniuses because I am just an average student and I don't have any failing grades. You do not need to be so smart to survive this strand, what you need is the ability to lead, the ability to communicate, and the ability to adapt to different kinds of environments. What I mean to the environment is, you will be having group activities in the near future, and do not let yourself become a dumbbell groupmate, learn to communicate and to help others, and learn to adapt. The last piece of advice that I can give you is my favorite motto "Winners never quit and quitters never win".
