Details of research work:

  • January 27th, 2014 to till date: Working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai - 600 030. Teaching inorganic, analytical, general chemistry for UG and PG students. Research supervising for Ph. D, M. Phil and M. Sc students.

  • August 3th, 2009 to Jan 17th, 2014: Worked as a Research Scientist in the Department of Research and Development, DyStar Singapore Pte Ltd, Singapore.

Research Summary: Design, synthesis and characterisation of novel eco-friendly textile dyes for all natural/synthetic textile fibers (polyamides, polyester, cotton and wool). Synthetic process development for textile dyes for industrial manufacturing process. Manage dyeing application laboratory. More than twenty international patents filed. In addition, supervised three laboratory technologists and laboratory safety (Chief Safety Officer).

  • September 2005 to July 2009: Worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry, National University of Singapore.

Research Summary: Synthesis of molecular organic materials based on perylene diimides (PDIs) and hexa-peri-hexa benzocoronenes (HBCs). Studied electron transport and optical properties of conjugated polymers, PDIs. Synthesis and optical properties conjugated molecules-nano particles composites. In addition, supervision of UG students and laboratory safety.

  • May 2003 to July 2005: Worked as a Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry, Anna University, Chennai, India.

Research Summary: Developed Zn[(L)proline]2 catalysts for the synthesis of pharmaceutically active heterocyles using atom-economic multi-component synthetic process. Developed the water-soluble catalysts for rapid aqueous phase reactions under microwaves. In addition, supervision of PG students .

  • May 2001 to April 2003: Worked as a Project Fellow at the University Grants Commission (UGC) Sponsored Research Project in the Department of Chemistry, Anna University, Chennai, India

  • Research Summary: Developed polymer-supported chromium(VI)-based oxidants for the selective oxidation of organic compounds.
