Make & Do!

You are living through a very unique time in history. 100 years from now, people will want to know what it was like to live during the COVID-19 pandemic. Become a historian and record the stories of your family, and share them with the San Diego History Center!

To get started on your oral history project, watch these videos with Ms. Herrera and Ms. Clark:

A photojournalist is someone who uses pictures to tell a story.
They observe the world around them, and use their camera to capture people, objects, places, and events. Those photos help people understand what a certain time in history was like.
Anyone can be a photojournalist, including you! Watch this video to learn how.
Watch high school student Alfonso Lacayo tell his funny story about a bad haircut.
Watch it again. This time, think as you watch:
  • What does Alfonso do to make his story come to life?
  • What kinds of details does he include?

Write some ideas for a story from your life that you would like to tell! You can write your story, rehearse it, and record it.
