Towards Community Wellbeing :
Exploring Event Venues As Recreation Center In Kampung Datuk Keramat
The aim of this study is to develop design strategies and programming frameworks for event venues to promote community wellbeing.
Kampung Datuk Keramat is a place that invites tourist interaction. However, the area is now packed and cramped with food stalls, vehicles, and outsiders, which restricts the local community from engaging in their usual activities. Some activities can't be done by the local community in Kampung Datuk Keramat due to limited space, forcing them to go elsewhere to find suitable places to interact with each other. The study show that the involvement of local community in exploring event venues as recreational center can improve community relations and reduce migration local people out of Kampung Datuk Keramat. This approach can also help preserve the community's spirit of belonging and sense of place. Additionally, the study can serve as a guide to developing design strategies and programming frameworks for event venues, promoting community wellbeing by enhancing social connections, physical activity, learning opportunities, and cultural celebrations in accessible public spaces. The benefits extend to physical health, mental health, community development, and social equity.
