Sisters of Mary Morning Star is a global religious order established in Bergara, Spain in June 2014. Practicing monasticism, presence and the power of prayer, Sisters de Maria Stella Matutina maintains approximately 250 members in 10 countries around the world. With roots set in place in the United States, a convent has been established in the American small town of Ghent, Minnesota. The chapel acts as a local place of prayer for members of the monastery to practice intellectual work, Biblical studies and host retreats and concerts that promote a life of presence through the word of God.
Living a life of presence is a cornerstone of the Sisters of Mary Morning Star. But what does it mean to live a life of presence? In short, to be present is to be fully-aware and to fully embrace each moment. In terms of prayer and work within the chapel, practicing presence means to be intentional and purely aware in the practice of the individual and the group’s monasticism. This includes being present in feelings of joy, eucharistic adoration, prayer and even manual and intellectual work. To truly embrace each moment with full presence and awareness is a guiding force of the Sisters of Mary Morning Star and their devotion to the word and wisdom of God.
