Before starting my teaching career, I completed a B.A. in Psychology and Judaic Studies with a minor in Education and an M.S. in TESOL at the University at Albany. While in graduate school, I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) at local schools in Albany, NY. In addition, I taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Gangnam, South Korea to elementary and middle school students.
For 12 years, I taught English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) for Fairfax County Public Schools (Annandale High School, ESOL Department Chair at Stone Middle School, and Mountain View Alternative High School). Advocating for my students inspired me to develop the ESOL Newcomers Programs and the ESOL Life Skills Groups. For 8 years while teaching, I wrote English Language Development (ELD) curriculum for FCPS ESOL Instructional Services.
From 2021-2024, I worked as an English as a New Language (ENL) Resource Specialist/Teacher Trainer for Mid-State RBERN (Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network). Mid-State RBERN is a New York State Education Department (NYSED) office that supports 126 school districts and 9 BOCES in the Central NY Region. In this role, I developed resources, built and facilitated professional learning, created asynchronous classes (for continuing education credits), designed websites, and coached educators on literacy and research-based ELD instructional strategies that support ELLs/MLs.
Most recently, I have served as a Curriculum Specialist, bringing together my expertise in instructional design and educator support to create meaningful, standards-aligned resources and learning experiences that strengthen literacy outcomes and empower diverse learners.
