Built on the legacy of the former Migration and Mobility Studies Centre (SISEC) within the West University of Timisoara, the new project SISEC Centre for Migration and Security Studies aims to address migration studies starting from the same ideas that were at the foundation of the so-called "Timișoara migration school": the need to introduce migration studies into the university curriculum within several faculties/disciplines, so that migration is studied and understood as a multidisciplinary field. Migration is not just a legislative, economy or social problem, or one that affects the protection of human rights, it is a subject that must be approached and especially understood using multidisciplinary scientific tools.
